CB750 F2 front and rear end swab to CB750 K6
« on: October 22, 2016, 01:33:57 PM »
Allright, I got a cb750k6 in very bad shape, adopted it, the previous owner fetched it out of the ditch after a few years.
I'll probably start a 'project' topic on it later, oh yeah I'm new to the site and yes I will introduce myself tomorrow. ;-)

However, I am searching for parts and I can get my hands on a very nice set of Melber wheels.. BUT.. they are for a CB750F2 with dual disc brake front and a disc brake rear.

My question is, can I swap the entire front end of a cb750F2 to the K6? I am afraid that the offset is different and that the upper tree will hit the tank, or am I wrong?

The other question is, can I swap the entire rear end of a cb750F2 to the k6? I think the alignment of the front and rear sprockets will be off but is that fixable? And how easily can you adapt the rear breaking system from cable to oil?

Yes I did my searches on the site but to be honest, I felt like swimming in an ocean of slightly off topic information...

Thanks in advance!

I done that, except the frame was K3 and engine, wheels and fork was from 78F.  It is pretty straightforward, for the fork I used the F triple, but I think the K would work too.  I drilled and tapped stops on the frame for M5 bolts and use them to keep the fork from hitting the tank, works great.

I bought an F swingarm, replaced the left top shock mount and adapted rear MC from some modern Honda; rear MC from F are hard to find and parts for them are even harder to buy, the master cylinder I used was used on many Honda bikes, you can find them in good shape on ebay for $20.

Here is my build:

As far as lining up sprockets, check out this page:

http://www.cyclexchange.net/Chain%20Sprocket%20Page.htm]http://www.cyclexchange.net/Chain%20Sprocket%20Page.htm

cyclex explains the difference and sells what you need, but it can be done at home too.

I forgot, the rear brake pedal - I adapted an early K pedal, it was actually much easier than I would imagine, there should be some pictures in the thread.

The F has a disc on the back, so you'll have to fab up mounts for the rear master cylinder & whatnot.
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.
