Got the new Conti on the rim and the rear sprocket in place. Installed the front sprocket. New chain will be installed. Removed the carbs. PO drained the carbs so they look pretty good. Carbs will be separated, cleaned with new fuel T o-rings installed.

Been making progress. The back of the bike is finished. Have the front end off and starting the fork rebuild. Caliper bracket pin was froze and took care of that with PB and heat. Was happy to see what I thought were splices in the headlight bucket was actually male connectors from a fairing the PO had on there. Took that harness off and the wiring is now all OEM.

Forks done, new gators, caliper rebuilt and MC rebuilt. I fixed the right hand controls, but with the damage done by the PO I just did not feel right putting it back on the bike. I ordered a new right hand control switch and feel better with that on the bike. I look at it this way...if I would keep the bike would I want that questionable switch on there...answer is no. Didn't want the new owner to have to deal with it either.

Thanks Brad. Take a look at the potential problem I located today. The heavy cable hot wire for the battery was bare. No idea why the PO would have removed that protection. That could have made for a short ride

Hey Johnie....what is the visual condition of the left control? If pantina'd, the R switch will not match and stick out. Maybe order both?

Started on the carbs today. They were actually pretty good on the inside. The PO did drain the carbs prior to years of storage. I always separate as it's a fun job. Will get these cleaned and check all parts out. Carbs are the 7A with 120's and 40's. Clip is in the middle position. Some air screws were 1 turn out and some 3/4. Will get these all dialed in with the Morgan. Plan to get rid of the brass floats, but will keep the rest of the brass.

I've seen this on a fee K0s. Not sure why it ends up like that. Great progress on the K1 John!

Forgot to add this earlier...steering head bearings cleaned and packed. No notching noticed. Races good to go.

Melted insulation. Honda probably changed the insulation supplier later.
The wire is full of acid damage too.
Time for new replacement lead.

Spent some time chasing an electrical short in the blinker wiring which was traced to a pinched wire in the back. Electrics are all now in order. You may remember the PO removed the front blinkers. Have the front of the bike done. The carbs are ready for reassembly. Got the carb bodies back from my local dealer who runs them through his ultrasonic cleaner for me. Next up is new throttle cables.

Bike is coming along good. Got the air box completed. Still waiting for new float bowl gaskets, but the carbs are all cleaned and completed as far as I can go until they arrive. Here's a before and after...

I cleaned it good and then used a product called Back to Black by Mother's. I was pretty surprised how nice it turned out. If you have something badly faded not sure how good it will do.

I am told black plastic responds very well to peanut oil and warm it up in the sun or a warm room and then wipe it down a couple days later to remove any excess. Long lasting apparently too.

It is badly faded but my current project is a bike I am throwing together with parts I have and the bike will be sold off, so if not perfect I am ok with it.
I have some Back to Black, that is what I planned to try, thanks.

PS. When is the Chevelle coming?!

Today I installed the exhaust which really makes the bike look good. The pipes are a great set of HM341's I had...but hey...it's the patina bike. Mainly put them on to test run the bike. Not sure if I will sell the bike with the 341's or remove them and install a 4-1 Mac I have in excellent condition. I guess it depends on the buyer and what they are willing to pay. I have no problem putting the Mac on if the buyer wants to save money and install some 300's. Last thing today was install a new tach seal.
