New here Thanks for the net and all you do.
« on: November 06, 2016, 10:12:52 AM »
my new 76 550 Super Sport F has been sitting for about 18 years. a bunch of cleaning up to do.  she is original w/ the exception of 400 bars and a broken bar end mirror. 16,290 miles, and I just broke the side covers. found a new set on Flea bay. paint and decals are the least of my worries. I tried to buy her from an old friend I have been visiting.. They found stage 4 liver cancer a year and a half ago. we do lunches etc, He gave my the bike. Throttle cables work fine, clutch lever won't budge.  The Orange tank paint is perfect.  Still have not gotten the gas cap off  tank was full so rust should not be an issue LoL  Central Florida guy here. used to ride triumphs Disabled now from a nasty Crash almost 6yrs ago.   rode Norton's before that.  Anyway Happy to be here.
Jim. 76 is a special year to me..Graduated High school and went active duty USN  the fall of that year.

Welcome to the madness, Jim. Re: the tank, rust may not be an issue but you may have some varnish/gunk in there - no big.

Have fun.

The black gum didn't let me get it totally drained.  even w/ the petcock removed.
a few trips to the parts washer 2 doors down will take care a lot of it. The tank is off and set aside.
Thanks for the welcome. She had her 1st bath in many many years this morning.
