It's still Christmas here.  :D

I just ordered this beauty today. I have been selling no longer used stuff for quite a while building up the gun fund. I couldn't resist this, fund is depleted. Not sure how many were in stock at Sportsman Outdoor but I bought the last, or maybe the only one they had.

Only 300 produced so which number I get is unknown. Doesn't matter, happy to get one. Will only increase in value and will never be fired just admired.

Details.

Product Description

What's in the Box

1911 L.D. Nimschke Series 70 45 ACP Limited Edition 1 of 300
(2) Magazines
Cable Lock
Owner's Manual
One of 300 factory serial numbers. LDN001 - LDN300.

In 1870, the firearms business centered around New York City. Louis Daniel Nimschke set up his independent engraving shop there after emigrating from Germany in 1850. His work was highly regarded by his contemporaries. Most of the estimated 5,000 jobs were done directly for wealthy collectors, dealers, or gunsmiths, and not for the firearms factories. Nimschke is best known for the quality of his bold American style scrolls, but he was equally skilled in the fine and delicate English styles. Unlike his contemporaries, many of Nimschke's pieces were signed. L.D. Nimschke must be regarded as on of America's finest engravers. This Colt pistol is a tribute to his style and contribution to the art of American engraving.

The design of the modern Nimschke Series 70 Colt .45 incorporates some of his favorite themes and patterns using interwoven scrolls and symmetry covering the complete slide, and echoed further on the frame, and again on the custom hardwood grips. Like many of his elaborately decorated work, the artist's initials can be found on the slide top, just forward of the rear sight.

The slide is brush finished and deep laser engraved on 2 sides and top with distinctive Nimschke patterns. Both the slide top and the rear pannel have selective gold plate. Rear pannels feature a 24kt gold Rampant Colt on one side and scroll on the other. The frame is brush finished and deep laser engraved on both sides Barrel bushing, thumb safety, hammer, slide stop, mag release are brush polished Unique hardwood grips feature Nimschke pattern, a gold Rampant Colt medallion and polished gold grip screws Custom shop box, Special label and insert.

Hey Bill. Yes, very nice. I'm watching prices as less become available. Might be all gone by now.

I saw three listed so far.

One at full retail. One at $591 over retail (#119) and one at $1991 over retail. (#64)  :o  Naturally the last one is only if someone is willing to pay that. If I thought I could get that I would sell it in a New York minute.

Hoping for a low number, no big deal if not. Leave it unfired with blank warranty card. Just admire for a bit and see where they go in value. I'm $210 under retail with no tax. ($153) Pretty sure I won't lose money.  ;)

New arrivals..
« Reply #103 on: March 14, 2017, 02:35:02 PM »
Couple of new arrivals this week. This is the first Springfield Armory I have purchased and I'm impressed. So much so I'm waiting for the 9 mm version to come back in stock. Springfield is offering a rebate which includes a holster, dual mag clip and four magazines. Total of six as the gun comes with two.

Cocobolo grips, parkerized finish, night sights.

Goes "bang!"

My new carry piece. Been waiting since mid January for this one. Kimber Raptor Ultra in stainless with night sights.

Love the grips..

Love the machine work..

And the night sights.

Goes "bang, bang!"

Officially in a spending spiral here in Arizona. Or as Mikki said "out of control!"

It's all good.  ;)

What I've been up to Bill?

More guns!  :D  More ammo too!

This TLE Pro EM is so sweet I'm tempted to buy the Custom TLE EM. (5 inch barrel) Just love this firearm with the mag well, night sights, front strap checkering and G10 grips.

Goes boom, eight times.

9, 40, 45?
pretty handles and I like the optics of the g10 .  The grip safeties are a little wierd I thinkjust never got used to them.  The Glocks sure could benefit from them as a less than tight grip and they bite the web of skin between thumb and fingers.

I had to sell my S&W 22 I used for a target pistol before moving away from AZ. Had built up a small collection of ammo in calibers I didn't even own.  It was in case I went shooting with a buddy that used those calibers.

I always admired the Kimbers,  I like them and the Sig Sauers.

Have fun sighting them in for yourself and enjoying some shooting.

David, .45 caliper. I love Kimbers myself and have five now. Sig Sauer is drawing my attention also.

Three more enroute. Springfield Armory 1911 in 9mm, Sig Sauer P226 9mm Legion series and I found 2016 Kimber Super Carry .45 caliper. Looked for quite a while as it was last years model. It was the last one they had and a reduced price. Win, win! Found it out in Steve's home state of Texas.

I'll post pics when I receive them but here is the Super Carry and Sig. Also considering a permit for a silencer but need to talk with a Class 3 dealer first. Several hoops to jump but very doable. 6 to 12 month wait on tax stamp from the ATF plus other paperwork. Will see.

They even make silencers for shotguns now.  Not sure how effective they are but, they are making them for a lot of different guns these days.

Well, the silencer is on hold for a bit. Just ordered another Custom Shop Kimber Ageis 9mm that is no longer in production.

Two shipped, waiting on two  ;)

Not stockpiling, just into firearms. With a CCW permit and the form to fill out each time on each firearm then yes, the State knows my purchases as it is entered in the data base by the Gun Shop while I'm there. Could be the FBI also knows. Would image so.

Steve,

Do you buy TP by the square? Do you just buy one roll at a time?
My response in the photo attached...
Ammo, guns...never hurts to have extras that are safely held in reserve until needed. You never know when you will need them and the direction many small businesses are facing with lost skills and craftsmen, you may not be able to get parts or repairs made were anything to happen to this kind of "tool". So, having several to choose from or fall back on is not a problem.  Rate of return on collectible guns is higher than it was 10 years ago. But, that is for collectible pieces, not everyday or carry firearms. Carry firearms are designed for their purpose and like anything, even when well cared for, it will wear out. If you are going to do CCW or use one for defense it really is in your best interest and should be a responsibility to develop and maintain said piece and develop the ability to place your bullet within the 10 ring at various reasonable distances for pistols and long guns and if you can hone that skill into clustered tightly near the bullseye, all the better. Your accuracy could save your life or a loved one's life some day.

Crazy huh?

Another sentiment for those whom don't agree with American's firearms laws and views...
See photo.
With that right, comes responsibility. That is not to be taken lightly.

Tactical light for a piccany rail arrived last week. 800 lumes at 234 meters. Bright, very bright. Will mount on the Sig P226 for now.

Picked up a great flashlight. Rechargeable LED. Also very bright. Shines a long way huh?

Streamlight makes some awesome products.

Will carry in purse very well.

ATF was in town today but thankfully at a different store when I picked up three more today. (Really doesn't matter)

Bought a Springfield Armory Range Officer in 9mm. Front optic sight, cocobolo grips with two mags and piccany rail. Submitted my rebate for 4 extra mags, holster and dual mag holders. Can't beat that.

Very nice firearm for the money.

Next is the splurge, oh boy. Wanted a 2016 model as the 17 models are in stainless and black. Wanted all black. This is the HD model with the steel frame.

Night sights with rear heel checkering and rounded heel.

Front strap checkering with G10 grips, 8 plus 1 rounds.

Flat top slide with the same checkering carried over. Just a beautiful piece.

Sig needs cleaning and mounting the tactical light.

This is my first Sig Sauer purchase. Impressed with this one. P226 Legion 9mm. Upgraded grips, gray gun trigger, x ray front sight with rear night sights. The front sight glows bright in daylight hours.

15 plus 1 with 2 extra mags, front checkering, rear and on both sides of trigger guard. Upswept trigger guard for a great feel.

Love the decock feature.

This picture was taken at 1100 hrs. down the hallway. I know my aim was off but hard to hold a gun and the iPad. 800 lumes at 234 meters.

Very nice firearm.

You do not need one in Arizona to carry but you need one to conceal carry. I have one basically to waive any wait periods or background checks. Oh, and to hide it.  ;)

This is my first Sig Sauer purchase.....

Sigs are fantastic guns...I live vicariously through a buddy of mine that has rotated through quite a few models. He has nothing bad to say. I have a little P238 pocket pistol that lives with me.

Have you tried CZ's?  I have CZ75 Police Model that I absolutely love.  De-cock only...no safety.  Awesome range gun.

I'm currently lusting after a Belgium made Hi-Power...but my dad has tentatively agree'd to sell me his for a good price for the last few years so I'm slow to search  :D

I must agree with you on the Sig's. So much in fact I'm waiting on the nickel 45 to come back in stock. The Legion is a fine piece and I can't wait to shoot it. I like the decock on the Sig, first firearm with it.

Haven't looked at the CZ firearms, need to do that. I fell in love with the Turkish firearms at the gun store. Canik I think. Nice 18 round 9mm but it's a poly gun. Been sticking to metal frame guns like Kimber. Have 5 Kimbers now and pricing a 9mm. New releases expected in May, nothing much in stock now, at least not what I want.

I'll check the CZ firearms as I watch 3 web sites daily. Hourly at times.  ;)

Personally not a poly gun fan..but it's totally aesthetic and feel for me.  I'm not a gun nut as much as a tool appreciator.  I just stripped/cleaned/safety checked a 1917 WWI Mauser Kar 98 my grandfather brought back from france in WWII...can't wait to take it out for what may be it's first round in almost 100 Years.

I thought they changed that law to concealed carry was also legal without a permit, but highly recommended.  I believe that change went into effect in '11 or '12 unless they changed it again.  I would open carry often...just peace of mind.

Milt Sparks made a great magazine holster, he used to make what was called a Six Pack and it was 6 magazines 2 deep and 3 wide, very very nice leather work. The Safariland Speedloaders for revolvers are good to have as well.

These days doing concealed or open carry sometimes it is a good idea to carry from the time you get up until you go to bed, then it is in the nightstand's gun safe with quick access...
Not that I lived in a bad area but I like the boy scout's motto, be prepared.

Here, open carry is frowned upon and will get you in trouble unless you have concealed carry license as people here aren't as open to it, but there is A LOT of licensed concealed carry going on even here...
