Thanks Riverfever.

Today I took a 180 on the project and decided to keep the spoked wheels. Tore them down to be sent out to powder coater. I will have to learn how to lace and true.

. Kind of intimidating. But I see kids on YouTube doing it, so what the hell. Give it a shot. Ordered new spokes front and back.

I laced my wheels. I had never done it before either. Not very enjoyable. I think that was the first and last set I'll ever do. It's kind of like drywall. One of those jobs I would just as soon pay someone else to do. Of course I won't know how good of a job I did until I'm putting down the road, I guess. I removed the old spokes with a bolt cutter.

I love lacing and truing wheels! I've replaced the spokes on my 350F last year, and have laced maybe a dozen bicycle wheels. Motorcycle wheels are quite a bit easier than bicycles. Take it slow, the tricky thing is the very first step as you want to make sure the valve stem is in an opening so you can hook a pump up.

I took quite a few references for the re spoke session. I studied the pattern and think I get it.

we will soon see. I took the motor down to the wash and got the light oil bake off of it. Picked up a couple of boxes of baking soda to see how well this will clean up. Need to get like a 20 lb bag.

Rims off to sand blast and powder coat.

The sheet metal as been sanded back to get rid of the topography from the metal flake. Nice and flat now. Added my lucky number to aid in keeping rubber side down. Also did the lettering on tank sides. Ready for re clear. The hubs were blasted and painted with industrial gloss black single stage enamel. Tough stuff.

3 full wet coats on this so far. 3-4 more going on for final in a few days.

Had some on my F2 when i got it. They were ok... I only road with them a couple times before replacing them. Luckily so since they were tube tires mounted on a set of comstars with no tubes.

It was the number on my football jersey in HS and college. My birthday is 3-17. 3x17 is 51. And it is also my age.

The top on is a John Deere 440 Liquifier...The bottom one is a Arctic Cat Pantera Free Air 500.
