Newbie Here In Hilliard, OH
« on: November 18, 2006, 05:10:16 PM »
UPDATE 1/1/2007:  I purchased an NOS seat for it and got rid of the butt ugly King and Queen seat, and sissy bar.  Pics at:

The luggage rack and sissy bar is for sale - CHEAP.

Original Post:
It has been a great day:

- Just bought my first bike, a '75 CB750!
- OSU beat Michigan - AGAIN!
- My car repair chores went smoothly!
- The first day I have been able to drive my wife's Honda S2000 for any distance.  Went top down most of the day!

I will have my pics up in the gallery within a day or two.  The bike is a '75 CB750 with around 30,000 miles. It is the orange metallic color, and has all the original emblems and decals. Mostly original except for seat and mirrors. This is one of those bikes that has been maintained reasonably well and is not bad cosmetically, but shows 30 years of wear. All the usual stuff has been done: valves, carbs, tires, battery, etc.  Everything works on it.  A bit of polish and maybe repaint the tank, and it will be a really nice bike.

I am late forties, and have done sports car racing for years. I have one kid in college and a second will be starting next year, so I will be setting that aside for awhile, and I always wanted to learn to ride, so I took the MSF course this summer and got my endorsement. Am a reasonable mechanic with cars, but bikes are new to me.

I'll be spending the winter honing my skills by riding around the neighborhood and checking everything on the bike.

A couple things I am looking for are:

- Detailed description of model year differences with these bikes
- Discussion of weak points and things to pay attention to on these bikes
- References to good local mechanics / shops
- Parts sources

Looking forward to learning about this bike!

Welcome, 37!  You'll find lots of goodies in the FAQ, including a resource list of SOHC4 parts suppliers.  I haven't seen a detailed description of differences between model years; however, this page from the archives lists basic differences between models.  By the way, you can get to that page from the SOHC4 Homepage (Click on the "CB750" link on the left).  It takes a bit of navigating, but you may find other bits of information along the way.

Hi Ohio SOHC4 riders

"We need to get an Ohio ride together for the spring time."
I am located 10 miles south of Springfield. I will be pissed if I have not gotten my CB750 F1 ready for a ride by spring.

Hi Rich,  yes I did have problems with a firm in Hilliard, but not the one mentioned by Kevin D.

Kevin PMed me asking who but when I checked on their address, I found that they had moved from Hilliard to Heath, also in Ohio.

I don't think they were a retail shopthat you could walk into, more of an online business.

Regards Sam. ;)

I think you guys need to start a "Who's in Ohio?" thread to rival the "Who's in Michigan?" thread!

Welcome 31rx7! From a big Buckeyes fan in Indiana. ;D

Oh, and I think poor Sparty is a MSU fan. Didn't he say he took his name 'cause he used to be the mascot? So that's social. Demented and sad, but social.  ;) ;D
