Junk mail
« on: November 11, 2016, 06:41:11 AM »
I'm sitting at home, sicker than a dog from the cold bug that's going around - so I decide best to pay my bills while I'm suffering.

I got a stack of paper that accumulated over the week or so - it's dang near a foot high.  Out of all of that, 3 bills.  The rest were daily coupon fliers, ads, credit card apps, and other magic bean offers.

90% of what I get in the mail is immediately thrown into the recycle bin - can you imagine the environmental gains we could make by eliminating just that one simple issue?

Here's what I do. The ads usually have postage paid envelopes, put other coupons in the envelopes and mail them. They have to pay the postage!. More job security for USPS and maybe they will stop wasting our time and resources.

After getting really pissed off with the sheer amount of crap being stuffed into and onto my mail box, and being blown all over the neighborhood , I contacted the company that delivers the junk mail and basically told them to f@%* off.... ;D  No more junk mail.... It is a pathetic way to advertise and a real waste of paper, it should be banned....

A few years ago we were on vacation in Europe and in each city there many people handing out brochures, usually advertising eateries and cafes. I mentioned it to one of our tour companions, an American gent, and he said he will always take the brouchures even if he is not a bit interested in what they were about. He said that these brochures and leaflets were keeping printers in a job.
He was a retired printer.

My junk mail helps to heat my home.
Laugh at least once a day.

God forces us to live with  non-believers to test our resolve.

I actually generally find that the paper they use for junk mail generally speaking doesn't burn.

I've literally had a credit card application, exposed to a match remain unlit for the duration of the match.

But yes - I always burn the applications, fake cards, and anything else they send that can be used to forge my identity.

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Funny, just yesterday I was trying to light a 55g barrel stove with a pack of old mailers. It took forever and just made a whole bunch of black smoke out of my chimney. Paper in general (especially printed) makes terrible smoke.
