Hi All

So this is my first post. I'm full of questions and need some advice from the wise.

I have recently purchased a cb750 and in the middle of stripping it all down.  I want to build a brat style bike and modernize were i can.

I have a pretty clear idea of what it want, but i have am at a crossroads when it comes to forks/wheels.

The bike for what ever reason has a Kawasaki Z750 front end (Folks & wheel) and a Kawasaki rear wheel to match.

My dilema is:

1,Do i keep what is there, refurbish and make do (feel this is my last resort choice)
2, Somehow find the parts to put back to standard to put back onto spoked rims or..
3, upgrade to a CBR/GSXR front end swap which would include spoke conversion hub.

I have been looking on the Bay of E but find it really hard to find parts at a reasonable price. So hoping someone could help in making up my mind or point me in a direction of  somewhere to get parts for what i want to do (in the UK).

 Those forks and wheels look to be a pretty nice fit on the 750. Upgrade from stock.

I don't know why you would see it as a last resort to keep the current set-up. I think it looks really good. Haven't seen a Z750 conversion before either, someone put some thought into that. :)

 If it's going to be a brat there's no reason to make it original. It already has dual discs and mag wheels, I'd go at it with what it has.

First tel, us where you are from,
I dont find 750 wheels forks as scarce parts, there is lots out there..
 And plenty of good deals on ebay as well.. Maybe you are not looking hard enough..

Thanks for the response.

I'm in the uk. I'm not saying it's a bad set up. It's just i prefer the spoked rims compared to the mags.

Easiest spoked hub conversion to a modern front end is the CognitoMoto hub. Available in 36 or 40 holes, and for a variety of front ends.

I do know he is also working on a rear disc conversion for non-disc bikes. Couple that with some Beringer classic brakes, and you'll be the Bee's Knees. Though I do rather like the look of the bike as it sits.  8)

 Was the KZ available with spoked wheels? Maybe look for a set of those?

That bike is badass as is, please don't cut it up to make another skateboard seat poser bike. That has a real nice super bike look to it. Redo some of the finishes, change the paint color and ride the crap out of it. You will have a very unique ride that will get good looks wherever you go, rather than looks most of us give to a guy who made a brat bike out of something way cooler.

I think an empty triangle skateboard seat bike would be kinda cool.

But ya gotta have the right skateboard to pull it off.

 Why not start with trying a different color on the mags? Some tape and some spray cans from the auto parts store and a couple of hours could really change the look.
 Gold would mimic the lightweight racing wheels of the day, but I think it would look good with graphite or natural aluminum, too.

Thats a really nice bike. I agree with others here and would not change too much. Update it with paint and attention to detail and nothing more. If you want a Brat bike please don't use this one for the base, find another donor that is ratted out for that. If you are set on a Brat, you might be able to make this bike look beautiful and sell it for a profit. Then go by a donor cheap and spend all your profit Bratting it out!

First off, welcome.  I can understand why you want to change the wheels, I like spoked wheels better on vintage bikes too.
However, since you are in the UK, this would not be a cheap change out. 
I agree with keep em.  Looks like paint is sorely needed......

Welcome to the forum, that is a great looking first SOHC. Love the Wheels and you have the dual disk up front....Someone put some work into that and i think it looks great. You're in the right place, this is the best group of guys and have a massive amount of knowledge and experience. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help. Take it easy.

Thanks for all the replys. After taking on board your opinions I'm going to leave wheels as is. The bike is already stripped down and ready for the back end to be tidied up.

I will let you know how things go and try to get some more picks up soon.

I've always wanted that EXACT seat for my CB750, Unfortunately they're not made for the late models (77/78) with the lock on the Points (right) side.... To me thats the best look and shape for a 750 cafe seat.... Guess I'll need to get an earlier model now too...ha-ha.

Beautiful bike man, either way you go i'm sure it will come out great.
