what lining are you guys talking about?
This lining.  Compare the marked areas. 
Looks like the lining on the lower shoe de-laminated, spun in the drum, and cracked the other shoe

Holy cow Nick! Is the lining missing from the other shoe? Is that what caused the lock up?

Yeah, I think so. Lining is missing and somehow it caused the big crack. Wheel was totally locked up.

You can google-fu the brake pad part number and come up with a few options.
OEM Honda may still be available.  EBC is a brand I have used in the past without issue.

Tires are plentiful.
I went with Avon AM26 Roadriders on my 350F.  Dang nice tire if youre ok with a more modern tread pattern.
Metzeler Lazertecs and Bridgestone BT45s have more of a traditional pattern, and are just as good.

IRC Durotour and Shinko 712s are decent budget options.  Im running the Shinkos on my 750 are they are fine.

thanks flyby, I'm looking at the avon AM26 but i don't see 110/90-18 all i see is 120/90-18. Would that work on 1975 cb400f?
