CR29 carb for a cb550 options
« on: November 25, 2016, 09:08:30 PM »
I purchased some CR29- cb550 carbs from dcc about 2 years ago without doing a lot of research. Now I'm coming to fit them after engine rebuild, 605 big bore kit, slightly sporty street cam and 4into1 yoshi replica exhaust. From further research I think I am going to have trouble tuning, the carbs seem like they are simply too big for a 550?

I am considering reverting back to rebuilding the stock carbs and trying to sell the CR29's. Will the CR29's fit on a CB750 without any issue? Looking for any suggestions at the moment.

Yeah, 29's are big for a 550 if you want a streetable bike with a decent idle. I'm even using 26's in my 674 motor.

CR's can be racked to fit the spacing of any SOHC4. Not a hard job as long as the choke and throttle shaft are long enough (if you need to go wider).

I second Godffery's stuff. That's where I got my 26's. Also have his dual disc brake setup, but that's neither here nor there :)
