Lol at some ebay sellers..
« on: October 11, 2016, 04:07:08 PM »
Theres a seller offering a set of KO rod caps, but not the rods, and of course says sandcast..seller name is like something you might see in a zoo !

Next peeve is Xl 350 heads, has any salvage yard  or seller, never heard that the top cap of the head, holding in the cam, is a matched assembly.......... No shiite sellers, just thought i should let you know.... In case they are not flying out the door.
I mean one would think a seller might say, top cap for this head available, and keep them together..but nooooooooooooooooo..

This is stuff that is actually good, turned to lower price undesireable parts.

The two case halves listed separately, Sandcast 16" wheels with a 4 hole hub and an old tire, only $800. Cam holders separated.  It goes on and on.

Unfortunately I get too many calls from e-bay buyers of cylinder heads wanting to buy cam caps......   All types of heads....   Always the same bad news:  You've got a great door stop there!

I bought from them and they sent the women over both to deliver and install everything on my bike. It runs great now.

This is stuff that is actually good, turned to lower price undesireable parts.

That pretty much says it all. Over the weekend I picked up a cb360 as a parts bike, all I really wanted was the front forks and brakes for my wife's 71 cb350 but the seller told me to just take the whole bike or should I say what was left of it. It presumably was a low mileage bike with only 8k miles on it but with no title the seller parted it out however he never covered the intakes or exhaust once the carbs and exhaust was sold and it had set outside for so long the front rim had sank about 6 inches into the ground and what that meant was the the so called low miles 360 engine is now locked up tight and junk for the most part. Don't know what I'd do with it even if it was good because the 360 twin is just a tad taller the the 350 and wont fit into the 350 frame but it still bums me out that a perfectly good engine was left to go to waste like that.

Contacted a washington based ebay scrapper about doing business in person and/or making trades.
Got a short reply "we do not offer local pickup"
What a Shame.
Here I was, youthfully optimistic that this scrapper was into community involvement.  Oh well.  No deal.

Nope it's absolutely false advertising. I've bought plenty from them and never has it been delivered by or come with a good looking blonde woman.

I was just looking at sandcast parts, a good percentage are not from a sandcast, but others are  so badly damaged it's hard to believe. The one lower 1/2 crankcase has the entire end broken off. Of course some welding will be required for only $499.  I guess if it has value but is bashed beyond recognition it's still worth 80% of new. The 16" tire on a 4 hole hub is somehow sandcast. The headlight ear with the hole ripped off where the turn signal mounts, The airbox in 27 pieces is only what a repro costs.
I'm going to list an engine soon and will try to do better but they leave me a lot of room. The one there now has no good crankcase covers, 10 bolt clutch cover, the chain went into the case, fins broken from the head and cylinder, engine mount boss partly broken off, oil filter chrome and chipped, case hole on top of trans cover, the valve cover could be correct though. it was up to 2550, didn't sell and is now buy it now at 2200. I'd buy it for parts but geez, there's hardly anything I can use without major repairs. I'd be a player for 5-6 hundred to get the top end to do fin repair and take a shot at repairing the case.

I do when I can but some things are easy to find there, like the K2 cam chain guide I just got.

Gotta lock those lids down or else the racoons will take anything they think is shiny.
