At least you didn't ingest a good snort of water into the motor, that would really chap your a_ , backside...
Tearing them down after submarining is no fun, doing so afterwards to replace parts even less so.
Buying bikes in flood prone areas can be risky, as manytimes they are a write off. Given a couple years people forget about the possibility and if they had sprayed them off you only find out when you tear them apart. If they were not insured, they don't get the salvage title and future buyers if not from the area have no clue.
Known a few adventure riders who had a bad crossing and had to walk it out of the river with a friend then pull plug and kick the cylinder(s) clear and then change the oil/water and put in fresh and dry out all the electrics enough to get it going again.
