Strange muffler size?
« on: December 04, 2006, 04:42:09 PM »
I was given a 4 into 1 header and muffler..supposedly for a 550. The header is in great shape, but the muffler is rotted out. Here is my dilemma! The muffle is a slip-on type with the following dimensions: Overall length is 20". Header side to hanger is 11.25". Header side has a OD of 2.5" Rear exhaust side is 3.5" OD.

Where do I find a muffler to fit a 2.5" 4 into 1 header? Any help would be appreciated.

check various exhaust suppliers... if you can get to within a few millimeters, you can use exhaust wrap as a gasket to make up extra space.  but, often there are specific ready to use gaskets available.

supertrapp has a great selection of universal style mufflers.  all you need is the OD of the exhaust header pipe (which, you already know!)

good luck and happy hunting.

Thanks Heffay;
I found several possible options thru Supertrapp. Made copies of specs....now its time to see which will work the best.
