Hey dog, a co-worker has offered me his 82 Gs1100e and I am, of course, very interested. What are some things I should be looking out for? The co-worker is the second owner and the bike is all original except for pods and a 4-1.
As long as the bike has never seen a drag strip, you should be good. That 16 valve engine is nearly bullet-proof, the crank is the weakest part of the engine, in '83 it was welded... but again, as long as your not drag racing, it will be fine. Post some pics when you get a chance. I think you'll really like the bike, scary fast, nimble and comfortable enough to cruise all day. I'm not a fan of pods, but if it's properly jetted, it should be fine. The anti-dive forks can be an issue as far as not working well, but if the bike has been cared for, it should be a non-issue. Obviously, look for the easy stuff, chain, tires, suspect oil, etc, but you know all that. Red or champagne?
What's he asking for it?
