New guy from Ohio.
« on: November 11, 2016, 06:58:51 PM »
Hello. New here to the forums and also new to the bike building.  I have a mechanic background but have always worked on cars though not bikes. Besides the usually carb cleaning.  I've been finding the site to have very good info to add to my skillset.

Im not new to being on bikes. First bike I ever rode was a 74 750 and that led to me owning a 82 nighthawk. And riding anything that people would let me on. Since then I've always been a CB fan.  But kids came along and money got tight.  Now I have my own business and funds to start again.  Recently I have picked up a 550 that someone half started making into a cafe.  Its gonna take some sorting out but I feel it will be a good learning process for me.  I plan starting a project thread here soon when I get my garage moved around.  (Hoping to have done that last weekend, but you know how it goes) Anyway I look forward to seeing your guys idea and what has been done before and learning from the knowledge that's on here.  And I'm sure I'll be asking plenty of questions so thanks in advanced.

Oh and just for kicks a crappy pic of the 550 on its way to its new home. Look for more to come in the projects.  Still trying to think of a project name to go along with it.

A pretty nice start for a sport-oriented 550. If the tank is fiberglass, make certain to line it with Caswell to prevent erosion of the resin due to ethanol fuel.

Some better and more detailed pictures when you can please!

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis
