Topic: My first cafe racer build

Hi all,

New to the site after a friend referring me if I needed any help.  So I recently bought a 1979 cx500 that I wanted to build a cafe racer out of. After taking part in the distinguished gentleman's ride 2 years running on a friends bike I've got the bug to build my own.

So I've spent ages looking at the style I want and downloading countless images. I'm gonna go the modern look. I'd already purchased a few things including a cool tank and spoke wheels of a cb550. I've also purchased a front end off a 2006 triumph daytona 675r.I've ordered the headstock bearing kit from all balls racing which is a cracking site with everything worked out.

I've 1 question tho, does anyone know what bigger/modern discs (both sides) I can run with the cb550 spoked wheels?

    Well, first, I'd like to Welcome you, to "The Family" and this is the place to do that build. I don't have the answer you seek, but I can promise you that someone will pop up here, just anytime and help you with that. Sounds like a cool build that you have in mind too. And I, among others, will be in and out, to see just what all you have going and there is a Ton of Info, from experiences of these folks, I promise you.

300mm or even 320 from Ducati or Yamaha will probably fit if they are 6 bolt, you will probably have to machine spacers..

 '95-98 CBR600 F3 rotors will fit, as will '89-95FZR/YZF 600. There are probably many more with the same six bolt pattern. Yamaha used the same pattern as far back as the XS650, etc. Just check offset and you'll have to make a bracket to locate your caliper(s).

I had planned on using the 550 hub but if that's not going to be able to be done then I'll have to look at an alternative I guess.

What's the odd length?? They're wasn't a front axel when I got the forks..
