CB500 Project "Twinning"
« on: December 06, 2016, 07:40:29 PM »
Had a couple sets of tins painted by a forum member last year.  Forgot the member's name but they turned out PERFECT. My little brother is going to have twins this year so I thought I'd set them up with the coolest gift any SOHC nerd has given his newborn niece and nephew... ever.  Calling it project Twinning.  The first of the two is now (mostly) complete with the goal of an original restoration.  The second I want to be an evil twin.  I will start this shortly and post pics as I go, building the evil twin with a stock theme with cafe bars, seat, and original pipes.  Hopefully in 16 years when they are old enough to ride they will appreciate these :)

Pics of one of the starter bikes here:

Great looking CB500 -- especially love the harder to find stock exhaust in good shape.  The repros available cost a bloody arm, leg, testicle and kidney

Thanks guys!  Still tinkering on this one.  Having a hard time getting my extruded plastic chrome trim onto the fresh painted tank, may try warming it with a heat gun next week. Fuel lines look silly right now, I'll be replacing these with more stock looking rubber. Also will install the correct clutch cable, the way I had to rout the +10" one that came with the chopper bars makes the pull very difficult.  Hope the cable cures this.  Pipes were expensive but I had to have 'em, on the hunt for another set to go on the "evil" twin.

I love a bike as much as the next guy, but I think I'd rather have the twin set of Vettes  ;) Is that a '71 in the background?? What motor?

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. I do have a thing for red convertibles! The stingray is a '70 with the original 350/350 and 4 on the floor.  It is as close to a perfect example as I've seen  8)  Thanks for noticing!

Cool idea, concerning the Twins and though I am a Mopar guy, I can appreciate the others as well and liking that Vette myself. Nice!!!!!!! 8) ;)
