Lurker with K4 coming out of the shadows
« on: December 14, 2016, 09:40:26 AM »
Hello SOHC'ers.   I've been tearing down a '74 CB750K4 that I was given, getting a lot of info from here along the way, but haven't posted.  Thank you all for what I have learned.

Background: I have some experience with major maintenance and partial rebuilds to keep rat bikes running, and I ride an original(ish) '69 Triumph 250 on nice days, which requires some mechanical good ju-ju, I guess.  Plus I maintain my daily driver '05 BMWR1200GS myself, so I am so-so capable, but far from skilled or experienced. Now, as I take this Honda apart, I find that it appears to be very original, undamaged, and correct, less the exhaust of course, and front turn signals. So, I am thinking I would like to bring it back to fairly close to original. (Caveat: this assessment is only based on what I have gleaned from this site and from the http://honda750expert.com/ site.)

Let me mention one more thing before I start with my questions.  I realize, and am greatly appreciative, that every question that anyone could ever have about a CB750 had probably been answered somewhere in this forum. One can search and find a huge amount of info about every nut, bolt, gasket, spring, screw, and widget on a CB750; that is extremely useful.
As a result of this existing thoroughness, I sometimes see people say things like "This is widely discussed – follow this thread...and this one etc..." - May I gently suggest that this can seem to somehow slightly dampen the communal nature of a Forum.  Part of what I want is interaction here. So if I ask a purely technical question that is well addressed elsewhere, please direct me; but if I am ruminating about issues which merit discussion, please give me your input.

So, with that being said, where should I post my general questions about finishes for frame, motor, tank and side panels?

Also, how do I change my profile?  I have found links on this saying "Go to profile and change it", but when I go to "Profile" I see my bare bones information, but no "Edit" option or button to change or add to my profile...

THanks!

Welcome!
The upper right "Search" function has been down for a bit (moderators know), so ask away.
For all questions relating to your K4....post/ask them at the link below.
Lots of good folks here will take the time to answer or point you in the right direction.

For changing your profile....cursor over Profile.....just ^^^^ there at the top left of this page.
Right between Search and My Messages
It'll give you an option for Forum Profile, and thats where you make/save your changes.

Welcome! Since the search function has been down I've been using Google. I tend to type in forums.sohc4.net and then add in some key words after that. Works pretty well for me.  :D Rick
