We have never had that temp here.
Vacations more south where I rely on cold beers and not able to drive any vehicle
+45C in Greece an Spain were a pain.

Last July we vacationed at Newfounland, it was such a nice break from Virginia.  Czech summers are fairoy decent as far as i can remember.

9f degrees as I write this. Been a pretty easy winter here in Kalamazoo so far but it ain't over yet ! Even though we have snow on the ground I did see/meet a dude riding an enduro today and talked with him as we were both at a local junk store looking for treasure. First bike I have seen in quite some time on the road.

I know you guys laugh when we complain about freezing temps or when we have some snow flurries.

"Southerners are urged not to travel unless necessary as snow, ice and high winds approach.

Northerners - you'll need your big coat!"

But it's serious down here now, there has been freezing rain all night. Trees are down along with power lines, there is a report of 130,000 people without power in the Austin area.

We have not been affected yet.

Having been driving down in Texas once many years ago during an ice storm I will say nobody can drive around on slick clean ice easily.  A layer of nice snow makes all the difference and salt !!

Agreed, I have driven on snow in NM, CO & UT many times [on ski trips] and have had no problems, but ice is another animal, I dont want to crash! 

Even drove on snow here two years ago during that monster storm, went out for "donuts"!!

We have winter tires on our cars. It is not legal to drive a car on summer tires on winter roads.
I have spike free winter tires. Many cars here have steel spikes in winter tires.
My car has permanent 4WD.

We do not have concrete roads that must be horrible with a thin layer of snow or ice.
Our buildings here are well insulated with 3 glaced windows.

I heard about issues in northern Thailand when temperature sank to around +10C, people died. Maybe Chiang Mai area in the countryside.
