52 degrees early this morning and all the snow has melted off again in SW Michigan. Mud season again for awhile. Been like a yo-to this year so far.

Same in Ontario today. Hard to believe I was moving mountains of snow a few days ago. I should be a bear and just sleep through it!

Snow will return.
I looked at my photos in my phone. We had lots of snow first week in April 2022.
First day 2022 possible to ride was April 16 :(

A little better 2021 when my first ride was Februry 28, almost 15C.
Snow  and cold came back, next ride March 27. Nice rides first days of April when snow came back with a layer of 20-30cm.
Had to wait another 10 days for final season start.

Waiting for spring is not helped by my old ride photos with tasty meals ;D ;D

Wasn't that [old] TV series "Hiway thru Hell" that seems to be centered around Hope (Alberta?) filmed near you?
I've not seen as much snow + hiway messes like is shown in that series, utterly nasty.

Very true! And Those places in Alberta are a lot closer to the North Pole than S.W. Ontario. Last week in Banff and Canmore, Alberta,  ski resorts were closed as it was too cold to be outside!!!!!

It's 10 in the morning and already 82 degrees, will peak in the low 90's. Thinking about a ride, but I like to wear all of my protective gear, so it'll be a coin flip in an hour or so, ride my bike, or stay under the cooler vent? We'll see. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

It was in the low 60's here in middle Illinois. I didn't get in a ride, it rained in the morning and caught me in a hailstorm in the wife's Accord. Pea size so it's not hurt. I hope. It did wash the salt off the roads so tonight going to the car club meeting we'll watch for ice.

I cannot make it colder without open the port.
Radiator is turned off .

The heating system is located here with incoming heat pipes with heated water from the city power plant for hot water and electricity.

Temperature often between 21-23C.
Dry air so bikes with parts will not rust as long as not using acids in a bad way.

That's the interesting thing about European countries, they use hot water for heating supplied by the city/government in large cities.
We have much greater autonomy or independence with apartment complexes sometimes providing heating and cooling as part of the lease but the businesses and homes provide their own heating and cooling needs.

My ability to function in cold weather has been greatly reduced from  when I was in my 30s capable of being outside in the snow for hours in a set of Carhartt bib overalls and a down jacket. Have worked on cars and other stuff in the snow and even sat in the snow working on things. If it was a dry snow and below freezing I could sit directly in the snow, otherwise a sheet of cardboard...
Wouldn't be able to do that now I'm 60 with major joint and skeletal issues with arthritis and fibromyalgia. Not for long at least...and not without consequences for that week.

We have areas without hot water pipes to the houses.

They have used electrical heat/cooling pumps. An economical chock from last year when electricity prices went skyhigh due to green maniacs closing down nuclear power plants, install a lot of non functional wind turbines.

Incompetence rules worldwide today. But who controls those?
A top manager hire idiots to ensure his own power instead of a good working company. That company will not live long. Sovjet, DDR style that did not work.

Well it's gonna be 30+ deg C (high 80's F) for the next few days, so a little warmer than I like for riding as I like to wear my safety clothing regardless of weather, but the $50 "Joe Rocket" ventilated leather jacket will be better suited for my ride today. I'll put some ice in my whiskey when I come home. ;D

That is a little bit too much.

After a period with 30-33C, I looked for a thinner and lighter leather jacket. My old jacket was very heavy to  wear over one arm when walking around on a bike and car meet.
I brought a fish scale to shops so I could compare jackets.
Found a lighter, slimmer leather jacket full of vent holes. Zippers to open front and rear for ventilation.
Big difference a really warm day. ;)
A cold day too, but not that convenient ;D My 25-30+C jacket.

The hottest day here in Melbourne that I can remember was on "Black Saturday" on the 7th of February 2009 when we had some bad fires and almost 200 fire deaths, it got to 47 deg C, or 117 deg F. Today it got to 32 deg C, and that was hot enough for me. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Going for a traditional cold hands ride with 5 degrees Celsius where it should be below 0
