And here on the other side of the pond it's getting cold. It's 57 deg F as I type this, with a top of 59. Luckily I hadn't planned on going for a ride today, and tomorrow is supposed to be warmer, so I'll clean up my workbench and collect my vapor blasted H1 500 cases, and think about reassembling the engine. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Here we are having the usual schizophrenic Spring, but short on snow! We got much more than normal in Dec-Feb, but only 2% of normal in March. We normally get 3-6 feet of it in March, half that in April, and some slop-storms in May - I've shoveled snow in June, too(!).

The annoying weather bunny is the one who states how much today's temperature is "...[n] degrees [above/below] average today..." which is irritating: she's using the nominal average temperature of [the year!] as her 'baseline'. Pure BS...

Just saw this.  Been kinda gloomy the last few days.  We finally got some rain though.  I might take a ride this afternoon if it the sun comes out.

Welcome back Greg. Always wanted to go there, what was the highlight?

Thanks Stev-o.  We spent most of our time in Bavaria, got into Austria a little bit.  Beautiful countryside, very interesting roads, but no motorcycle dang it.  It was cooler than average for this time of year there as well, actually had a few days of snow.  We walked up into some castles, walked around old Rothenberg and Bamberg, went into some cathedrals, the usual tourist stuff.  I spent my time fantasizing about riding the good 'ol 750F on those narrow winding roads between villages.  I have to say I was disappointed in the autobahns.  They don't live up to their advance billing, and neither do German drivers in my opinion.  We could have been on an interstate anywhere in the U.S because I saw the same lack of maintenance and drivers doing stupid stuff.  The no speed limit thing actually seems to result in less smooth traffic flow, and the speed differentials you see between the left lane and others seems hazardous to me.  And holy crap there a lot of commercial trucks on them, all poking along like rolling roadblocks.  But all in all, an enjoyable trip.

Welcome home, Greg!
My grandmother was from Black Forest in Germany, 1937. My brother and I studied German for 3 years so we could talk with her (she still remembered it pretty well), but she sure laughed at our mistakes. :D

Her father was a cuckoo clock maker in his own family shop. In 1966, after years of searching, her daughter found one of his original clocks and gave it to her for Christmas. It was fantastically [hand]built with 2 solid bronze acorn weights that had to be lifted (wound) to run the clock every 7 days, and forest-like details that would take an hour to type out here. The cuckoo announced the hours and the half hour got one call, and it kept perfect time, 30+ years later. It was still there and running, with NO MAINTENANCE, in 1980, the last time I saw her house before she left to assisted living.

My Grandmother had also told me about the famous cuckoo clocks from that Black Forest area of Germany;very dark wood, she had one in my Grandparent's house, but they didn't keep it reset or wind it..
I just remembered after you mentioned it,she told me about the clocks;Grandma raised me more than my own Mother.

We’ve had some unseasonably warm weather over the last couple of days, it’s been fantastic, but it won’t last, back into the low 60’s on the weekend. Poop. ;D

Funny looking snowplow there Eric!

My buddy was thinking of heading north to MI to get his cottage open for summer. They looked at the weather forecast there and said screw that, too cold!  They headed for the warm sunny beaches in Mexico instead!

In the 80's here today but a light rain.  Forecast for Thurs is sunny and 78F, perfect for a ride!

That’s the sad part of lawn care, once you start mowing season you are usually committed to it then until peak summer heat and dry slows the grass grown. In rainy areas in spring it can be tough to get the mowing in because of showers.
