The Honda Cub got first place because it was the best selling motorbike in the world and you could drop it from a building and it would still run.  Watch the video.

Great video...thanks for providing the link!  Now about the assertion that the ride was just boring because it was to "clinical," too predictable.... think of it as a testament to a solid product.  30-40 years later, we all know it has plenty of idiosynchrocies, quirks and needs that make it a fascinating bike.  But at the time it was introduced, IT WAS that much better.  In the 90's when I moved from an '80 Suzuki 750 to a 92 CBR600, I found the engine as exciting to listen to as a sewing machine.  It was too smooth.  There was nothing I had to do to the bike.  After I did the requisite wheelies and drove 100++++mph  more times that I can remember, I found the bike boring  :-\   

Don't use a big word where a diminutive one will suffice.
