« on: December 19, 2016, 05:50:57 PM »
I have heard there is an advanced function to search Craig's list for an item by State without sifting through all the local/regions....anyone want to give it up?

Thanks

Sorry, no help here. I have searched & bought off of Craig's List, for some time now and have only seen where you search by key cities in each state. If What you ask, is possible, I would like to know myself.  ;)

it does exist....I believe you can put in distance parameters and it transcends the city list...I think it is an add on program that helps to sort...I'll keep you posted if I find it.

Searchtempest.com worked for me in the past when I wanted to spread my CL searching past my state borders.

I sure would like it to work as it used to.I have taken a few nice road-trips and met a few friendly sellers by using that search not long ago..

Yes,it works but it's had the ball's cut off of it somehow  ::) I use to get 100's of results and now maybe 8-10 for all of the USA..  :( The search bar area toward the top says it no longer uses Google to do the searches,etc...

I had an 86' VFR750F1 'Interceptor' gear drive cam model and loved it.I bought a new Fox Twin Clicker rear shock for it and that was excellent.
I still have a full set of stock cams in great cond. for it;I removed them when i installed the new MegaCycle street cams.

I have heard a lot, from several folks here, that a Honda V4s were really something and had a really different sort of sound. Always wanted to try one out, but have yet to experience that. Might be a good thing though, cause if I DID get the chance to take one for a spin, then most likely would be hooked and just have to have one.  ::)   ;D   ;)

I loved that bike.I built an 840 motor for it and was looking for someone to build a custom exhaust and then find a set of HRC 'kit' carbs. for it.. a smooth running engine.

::) You do know that all of this talk, is making me want to see if I could come across one, to check out?   ;D  And I probably won't be able to do something til after around Feb or March, for sure, if then even.  :-\  I can see that I am going to have to do some revamping around here and make more of an effort to get things done, in an attempt to free up some cash, soon as I can.  ;)

The 86'-87' VFR's are around for small $ now as they are 30yrs. old;trying to find one that hasn't been crashed is a good thing.I installed a 94' CBR600F2 front-end and wheels for 17" rubber and still have a couple rear wheel spacer kits to fit a 600F2 rear wheel.I also saved a spare set of CBR600F2 front triples that have the VFR stem professionally installed, trued and welded in.Those engines hold-up for the duration and can take a hard pounding and come back for more as the orig. 86' VFR750's were raced seriously on the track w/ many privateers buying Honda HRC racing kits at the time and trying to keep-up w/ the fresh first yr. GSXR750's.
The stock engine has a powerband that starts to RIP from 7K on up past 10.5 until it hits the rev limiter.
The later model 90's VFR's were de-tuned for more mid-range torque w/ less top-end kick;they work great for sport-touring and long distance bikes.
I put a pr. of Heli bars(taller clip-ons than stock)on mine and rode it from MA. to Denver and back in the late 90's;got a ticket coming back on the NY. state thruway/Interstate. 90(W-E)that weekend trying to follow a Suzuki Hayabusa(I was doing 125+ at the time) from a NY State Policeman for over $400.. it helped slow me down.
He let me leave on my own and send the $ in.. too expensive to go fast anymore.

Some good info there, Bill, thanks. And, as far as going fast, I know the feeling of tickets helping a person decide to slow up, at least some. I used to get up some pretty good speed and just after I slowed down, I would come across a coop either giving a ticket to someone else or just finishing up with someone. Then, Next thing I Knew, just about 4yrs later (in Georgia) We were coming back to Hartwell, from Anderson S.C., on the hwy and Georgia State Trooper nailed me, Then, after we moved back to Arkansas, I got nailed and I should have gone to court on that one. We were on a road coming in the back side of Little Rock and ahead, there was a Cop car, with 2 cops using a hand held radar and pulling people over right and left. Only thing is, I had a radar detector and it never went off, when one of the cops, who was holding the radar gun, motioned me over and handed the radar gun to his buddy. The other cop popped someone else, with the gun and my radar detector went off and the cop who was writing me up, asked me to turn it off. I was so put out that I was getting a ticket and didn't think I was going very fast, that I didn't really stop and think about the detector not going off, until the other cop used it. Later, I thought about it and I just went ahead and paid it, but I really wish I had of gone to court about it. Course, it is too late now. Since then, I have gone that way many times and have yet to see the cops there like that since that time. Oh well, that's history now, of course.  ::)  Anyway, point I was making was IO know what you are saying and, for the most part, I have slowed up a bit myself. Not near as much fun though.  ::) ;D
