Killer job. Cracked through all that pretty quick.

The alloy finish on your engine will for sure dull out over time if left unclear coated. To some like me, it's not biggie though. haha. Take the others advice and clear your engine if you want the finish to stay as is.

Yea I like that whole aged/patina look.  Plus I have an aircraft polish I will be using on it to keep it looking good.  I spoke with several vapor blasters and they all said its not needed

I havent updated in a minute but I got a little bit more work done.  Unfortunately I'm waiting for some parts before I can continue so hopefully soon! 

Got the frame detabbed and hooped


Got the engine mostly finished.



Also got a fresh set of FINSERTS!

The engine is essentially finished!  Got the timing and valve clearance set and ready to go!  Now I just need to get my frame back from the shop!

AND LOOK WHAT JUNIOR AT RETRO MOTO SENT ME!  Cant WAIT for this thing to get done!


I should have the frame back mid next week to strip and paint.

Im picking up a '72 CL175 this weekend too.  I will be moving into downtown Dallas within the next two months so I need something to putt around town on while the 750 is under the knife.

I call his house "Bill Benton's House of Hondaland Fun".  He has just about anything you could want for the SOHC bikes and he's going to California to pick up 11 more 750's, 3 750 frames and 3 more 750 dragsters.  Mega cool guy.

Progress has been slow because I was buying a house but I closed on it today!  Moving in on June 13th and I will have a 2 car garage to work in now!  I am going to epoxy the floor before I transfer everything over and turn it into a badass workshop.  SO the bike will most likely go back on the back burner until the garage is finished and we are moved in.

Wow I havent gotten anywhere on this bike how disappointing! 

Let see, I bought a house and moved in, started a company and have been busting my ass getting it off the ground, and have barely touched the bike!  I did however setup a workbench in my new garage!

Jarob,
Been there, done that with the business.  The only way to make that business grow is to put in the time and the effort.

But one thing you might want to do is start to 'budget your time' with the bike.  Don't fall into the trap of thinking that you have to work on the bike for 2 or 3 hours at a time every time you work on it.  Pick something that needs to be done and go spend 15, 20 or 30 minutes on it at least 2 or 3 times per week.

This is such excellent advice. Wish I had done this through spring. My bike would already be done.

Unfortunately the next step is to have the frame painted and reassemble everything!  I can't afford to put money anywhere other than the company or the house at the moment so the bike will have to sit.

Wow I have not touched this bike for over a year now!  My business is doing fairly well and I started a second one which has been in the buildout phase of my new warehouse, should be done in the next few weeks.

Since last month was a record month for me I decided to reward myself by finishing up my bike!

Just ordered all of my MotoGadget gear and parts needed.  My custom tank/seat should be done next week, and frame is at powdercoat.  Finally!  Progress!



Also, my new business is motorcycle related and incredibly badass.  I'll show you when my warehouse is complete!

Life updates:

Sold our house.
Moving to new one today.
Got married.
Had honeymoon.

Bike updates:

Tank and seat finished (my wife paid for them to be finished and had it custom painted and upholstered for me for my wedding gift)
Frame and parts powdercoated  (also a wedding gift from my wife)
All parts ordered
Assembly to start FINALLY

Also I have been riding this little gem around but sold it last week.  1971 CB450 with 500cc big bore.

I really like the powercoating on the frame.  I wonder, if you are doing a solo seat, why did you keep the passenger footpeg brackets?

At the time I was in the air about the solo seat and was also thought about using them for the rear-sets.

I have since changed both of those and went with the solo seat and rear set mounts.  Oh well!
