You might want to give your exhaust a quick but thorough wipe down with Acetone too before you for a lengthy ride. It will clean the grease and oils off before they burn in as tarnished marks on the stainless.
Good call cal!  Completely forgot that in all the excitement of it running.

come on man...the rest of the bike is so good...but you have to do something about an inner rear fender and some real air filters
Those are K&n filters on the bike.

Yep fenders are coming along.  Tanner matic is doing a carbon front and I'm going to swap the number plate and build a inner rear out of carbon.  Probably be a month before that's all done

thank goodness!  Not sure why I doubted you as this bike exceeds expectations every where else.  Can't wait to see the Tannnermatic fender.  Amazingly, I have not seen anyone else use his stuff on this site.  Guessing those are the biggest K&Ns that fit the 400 carbs.  I feel spoiled by the parts availability of the cb750.  I forget what its like trying to find good stuff for other bikes
If it works good, it looks good...

Been slow to post updates.  Got the bodywork all cut and buffed out.  And made a battery hold down.  My Tanner matic carbon front fender arrives this week and then I'll make my carbon number plate and rear hugger.

Just got this today.  Once I get the fender I'll get some sheet carbon to make the front number plate.  Once those are on I'll determine the plan for a rear hugger.  Part of me really likes it being open.  But a hugger would be nice to have

 Alright got my fender.  I'm going to get some carbon and make a front number plate.  My question is on a rear hugger.  Do I;
1-not run one
2-do carbon fiber
3-polished aluminum

I like it all open but the sensible side of me says I should run one.

Kind of leaning towards painting the fender to match, leave the number plate and either go polished aluminum hugger or no hugger

You gotta do something to keep crap of your air filters and the back of the engine...not doing something just send the message that this bike will not really be used, and that's not a good look no matter how clean it is.
If it works good, it looks good...

Carbon hugger. Subtle but enough to keep the dirt and water off your motor, carbs, electronics - and it'll look good and match your front.

Put a few more miles on the 400.  Going to change the oil this weekend.  Got some aluminum coming and some carbon to see which looks right for the hugger
