See how the clear settles down in a few days before you decide to sand and reclear.  Sanding that baby down for reclear will be no picnic.  Easy to blow through edges...then ya have to spot in repairs....Ugh.  I think 4 coats should do it.  Worse case scenario may be, sand down the more visible sections of frame and then buff.

So, with the Nason he should have applied 8 coats of clear, if he originally only applied 4, since Nason clear is not a high solids clear (like a PPG product)?

As the clear cures it will shrink and that may cause the flake to start showing the edges that are standing up, right?
Just making sure I understand what you (a pro) are sharing (wisdom).

Hi David.  4 coats minimum with the Nason if you get lucky, and the flake laid out nice, you should be able to sand and buff and be done.   Manufacture recommended application is generally 3 wet coats for topcoat.  You really do not want to stack it too high in one session.    I typically re clear everything after it has shrunk back, especially if there is candy over the flake.   The biggest offender of the shrinkage is the binder in which the flake is mixed.

Cut and buffed the frame tonight.  Also wet sanded the swingarm.  Plan is to polish it tomorrow.  Then time to assemble the bottom end.

Forgot what an upper body workout polishing is.  Got half of the swingarm done with the first two compounds.  Once I get the entire swingarm polished with those I'll do the final one and then a hand polish

Finished up wiring a kz650 today so got finish polishing the swingarm.  Happy with how it turned out.  Ignore my beat up hagon shock.  Racetech is still taking their sweet time to build my shocks.  Going on 2.5 months. They are saying it should in 2 weeks.

Just waiting on one needle bearing for the starter gear and then the cases will be put back together and I'll get the top end going.  The crank was lightened and balanced by ape.  Rods were shot peened and balanced by Mike and he put cb750 rod bolts and nuts on for added strength

Well I have a delkevic stainless 4-1 header with a 12" cone eng can I planned to run.  But I got that before deciding to do a built motor.  Was trying to sell that system and get a mc-again system from Japan.  If mine doesn't sell I'll run it and see how it is
