Finished up wiring a kz650 today so got finish polishing the swingarm.  Happy with how it turned out.  Ignore my beat up hagon shock.  Racetech is still taking their sweet time to build my shocks.  Going on 2.5 months. They are saying it should in 2 weeks.

The only downside to polishing that swing arm is it makes the welds look like crap  :-[ TIG welding aluminum is very difficult to make look perfect, but when polished, it shows any imperfections in the beads. I guess with the wheel and shocks on, the beads holding the shock boss will be subdued, but they sure stand out screaming in these pictures.  :'(

I wonder, or do you know, did they heat treat your swing arm after fabrication? I'm only curious as to whether they do or don't, whether they deem it necessary? I suspect its not needed since they didn't cold bend and form it then weld it... It looks to be a really well-made piece of kit  :)

Agreed but i'm drawn to shiny things.

Nope he didn't heat treat it, karsten said there was no use to doing that.

Just waiting on one needle bearing for the starter gear and then the cases will be put back together and I'll get the top end going.  The crank was lightened and balanced by ape.  Rods were shot peened and balanced by Mike and he put cb750 rod bolts and nuts on for added strength

Well I have a delkevic stainless 4-1 header with a 12" cone eng can I planned to run.  But I got that before deciding to do a built motor.  Was trying to sell that system and get a mc-again system from Japan.  If mine doesn't sell I'll run it and see how it is

That's what I was thinking.  I'm curious what the black wheel hoops and hubs look like with them.

Loving the build. I vote for polished hubs, rims and lowers, unless you really like the Saints. That polished swing arm looks so good.

See, I'd be into the black lowers BUT you do have the polished swing arm so there will be balance there for both ends of the bike in that respect.

I did think about vapor blast the lowers vs polish.  I'll probabky leave the hub's black since the main color in the tank and seat is black.  I'll see what I'm thinking once I get the wheels on it this weekend.

I agree.  I would get the lowers polished (maybe after vapor blasting) and then clear powder coated.  They will be subjected to a lot of road grime and some brake dust.
