Just got this today.  Once I get the fender I'll get some sheet carbon to make the front number plate.  Once those are on I'll determine the plan for a rear hugger.  Part of me really likes it being open.  But a hugger would be nice to have

 Alright got my fender.  I'm going to get some carbon and make a front number plate.  My question is on a rear hugger.  Do I;
1-not run one
2-do carbon fiber
3-polished aluminum

I like it all open but the sensible side of me says I should run one.

Kind of leaning towards painting the fender to match, leave the number plate and either go polished aluminum hugger or no hugger

You gotta do something to keep crap of your air filters and the back of the engine...not doing something just send the message that this bike will not really be used, and that's not a good look no matter how clean it is.
If it works good, it looks good...

Carbon hugger. Subtle but enough to keep the dirt and water off your motor, carbs, electronics - and it'll look good and match your front.

Put a few more miles on the 400.  Going to change the oil this weekend.  Got some aluminum coming and some carbon to see which looks right for the hugger

Well got a direction for my rear hugger.  Was considering cutting and polished a piece of aluminum and mounting it to the rear frame rails but I didn't like the idea of covering all that area up.  So decided on a carbon fiber hugger mounted to the swinger.  This is just for an idea.  The new ktm 390's have a hugger very similar that should work for me.  Updates coming soon

If you are making the hugger, you might want to mold a flange of mounting onto the swingarm.  For reference, here are some photos of the hugger I used on my sportbike.

Alright got my hugger mocked up and shipper out to Tannermatic to make it out of carbon for me.  Changing the oil and rechecking rocker clearance.  Also figured out the issue I was having with my speed hut gauge.  The plug wires weren't shielded and were causing interference.

Same here!  Great minds think alike I suppose...  are you guys on the RC forum?
Haha.  Yep I'm over.  Not as active since I'm mostly done with my Rc.  This winter I'll wrap it up.  Going to finally paint it and do 20mm online valving to the front end

If you are making the hugger, you might want to mold a flange of mounting onto the swingarm.  For reference, here are some photos of the hugger I used on my sportbike.

Ha I have the same hugger on my rc.  Trying a ktm hugger as it should be perfect for it.  If not then I'm going to make it
