Dentist hoodwinked me

Probably not really - but it felt like it.

Went in today to get a tooth prepped for a crown, plus a second one filled.

When I asked about what was going to happen - "Oh, 2 fillings and a crown"
What? ???

So yeah - he filled 2 teeth, then prepped a third tooth for a crown.  I feel like I got beaten up - it's a long time to spend in a dentist chair.

So now I'm at home waiting for the Novocaine the wear off and to see how sensitive my teeth will be.  Since I have the temp on right now - I'll be eating soft foods for the next week and a half.

I've had a number of bad experiences w/ 'cheap'  ::) dentists and really want the next one I go to to be Low Stress !
I need to have Lot's of trust to open up my mouth for some D#%m sharp instruments..
I certainly do need to find a good,friendly,honest dentist soon;I think it's better for me not to wait too long.

Oh I've been going to this guy since he opened his practice almost 20 years ago.

He's never given me a reason to distrust him - but he's definitely one of those people who only tells you as much as you need to know before doing his work.

"Uhmmm, could you be more specific?"
"Sure, hang on <whhhrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..........>"

It's pretty much the same with all health professionals in my experiences.  Eye doctors, sports medicine doctors, dentists - so overworked that they don't have time to engage with their patients at any level.

Yeah, I hate to trouble those over worked dentists, so I don't go. In the last few years I've had one tooth collapse, a gold crown fall off, and I haven't had that temporary filling from 2010 fixed either. If it don't hurt, it ain't broke..... ;D

I'm on vacation (holiday) 1200 miles from home for my brothers wedding. First hour off the plane lost a filling. Same tooth that I went back 3 times for because it hurt to chew. Dentist said it had to "calm down" and I should "give it some time". I couldn't eat or drink because without the filling it was super sensitive. I went to Walgreens and got some temporary filling stuff, it looks and feels like clay. I must say two days in and it's holding up with no sensitivity. My brother said now that we know about this stuff, there's no need for a dentist. The fact that this tooth has been bothering me since the original repair and I kept going back pisses me off. (Oops, wrong thread.)
