Watch the fender to header clearance, some 4-1's stick out a ways. I'd go with sliding the forks up an inch in the triple trees. The easiest and easily reversible. I added an extra set of brass sleeves with the flanges cut off inside the tubes on my K2 drag bike project, it got 1 1/2" or so. Can't say I'd do that on a street bike, around here the roads aren't getting any better. Bottoming out can lead to a serious wobble that could cause a wreck.
Try to not lower one end a lot more than the other, it will change the handling, as it changes the rake and trail of the front end. That's all I know about it except you can buy shorter tubes from cycle X or Franks.
