CB450 air cleaners
« on: January 03, 2017, 12:06:03 PM »
So I've been on a desperate hunt for some stock air cleaners for my '72 CB450 and I found some that are for earlier years (pre1972 and earlier). I researched a little and it seems the plastic housing they sit in is different but they look the same to me. Can anyone confirm for me or at least give me some options? I've also looked at CB350 air cleaners and they look very similar as well.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. it seems the part numbers are different so I'm not sure if I want to pull the trigger. Can you confirm? Also, would CB350 air cleaners work?

I cannot confirm with absolute certainty but I can say that all 8 450's I had from 70 thru 74 seemed to have the same filter. Doubt a 350 is the same.  Good luck...larry

There is a thread on this exact filter question about some very reasonably priced repro CB450 air filters over on hondatwins.net, I think if you went on there you could find out.

Hi grcamna2,
I'm a member on there and I've scoured it pretty well for this very topic before and I couldn't find anything. Would you mind pointing me there?
Thanks!

My computer skills are very lame right now,I'll find the exact name of it and what section it's on & get back to you here.

The threads name is "Reproduction  air filters available for 68-71 CB450" in the CB450-500 section of the forum under "Fuel supply and carburetion"   ;)
it's a fairly new thread started on Dec.27,16'

As far as I know, all 5-speed 450's use the same filter - not clear on why the part #'s changed.....

Found it! Thank you so much! Turns out I was talking to the same person making these repro's on eBay. Looks like the 72' and later models will be produced in the next couple months. Hooray!

I've been talking to Kevin from Scrambler cycle(the ebay merchant) and apparently they will fit but the filter will be exposed due to the housings being different between the different model years.
