Excel/Napoleon Rims
« on: December 03, 2006, 04:38:22 PM »
Anyone have any information on these rims: http://underbid.com/action/display/item/1057755948/sku/RKFDS405.html

I'm currently trying to find a decent set of rims to lace up for a 550 rebuild

Any other suggestions would be helpful as well

Have a good one!

Far as I know the SOHCs use a 40 hole rim so I don't think those are even close to being compatible with the stock hubs.

Your right about that

I figured that they would have 40hole, but after looking harder, it seems that they don't

Any other suggestions?

750s use 40 spoke rims, 350/400 have 36 spoke rims, unsure of other models.

I have shouldered, dimpled Excels from Buchannans. They're nice rims, pricey though.

You want to find a set of wheels off a CB750 Automatic - they're alloy rims and stock size for all our bikes.

Spoked autos use a 17inch rear rim and a 19 inch front rim.  These are identical in size to the 77/78 750 K bike rims but they are aluminum rather than steel.  You would need the spokes specced for the autos or the 77/78K bike inorder to use the rear on earler the bikes that came with 18inch rears.  The spoked Autos rims are indentical to the rims from the 75/76 Gl 1000s (17" rear, 19" front). The GL pieces will be much easier to find. . . . .
