Identifying CB750 frame code
« on: January 05, 2017, 08:38:44 AM »
Hello everyone,

I'm writing here because my father it's restoring a Honda CB750 (blue) and he would like to know the country it was manufactured and the year. It was bought in Portugal (Europe) and the frame tag it's both in german/french and english. The code is CB750G-1005629.
Can someone help decoding this digits?

Thank you,
Paulo

Gave it a search using the model "CB750" but doesn't have any model "G". Any other suggestions/search tips?

Nah, it's not really a "G" Jerry, some the non-US frame/VIN numbers on F2's start with CB750G- Cheers, Terry. ;D

That's good to know, Thank you!
So it's a CB750 F2.
I'm gonna ask him later if the seller told him the year it was made/bought.

Any chance on tracking down the country it was manufactured and the year?

I uploaded some photos on the main post.

Strange. The frame serial number points to a 1975 CB750F. However, paint scheme, black fork sliders and wheels are typical of a 1977/78. I don't think there was any manufacturing outside Japan at that time. USA assembly started in September of 1979. Belgium and Italy were later.
1973 CB350F -sold
1974 CB350F -218 orig miles, sold
1976 CB750K - in restoration

Not really strange, those parts could have been easily changed out for any number of reasons.

Was that serial number you posted off the engine or the frame ?  Both numbers would be nice to know.
