Triple beam scale
« on: January 05, 2017, 05:16:00 PM »
On another thread, the subject of triple beam scales came up, so rather than hijack that thread, I'm starting a new one.
My scale's beam mounted counterweights only went up to 610 grams, even though the max capacity was labeled 2610. Optional counterweights were required to measure the max, and came in a set of one 500 gram and 2 1000 gram. The extra weights hang from grooved posts in the right end of the beam. By trial and error, I found that the 500 gram counterweight was 147.5 grams, and the 1000 gram was 295 grams.

Same scale as i got.... thanks for the tip.....I can make those.
So it will weigh anythink in our motors, except the crank.
I like using it and comparing parts I make vs stock parts..

Also, note there is a lightly knurled knob on the left side, under the platform; this is used to "zero" the scale.

The vintage weed scales were stamped out of sheet steel, and had a roach-clip to hold the baggie! ::)

Just realized..these younguns may not know what a nicklebag is....not a band from Canada..
Or Acapulco Gold...or paraquat.
A few years back we had BC Thunder#$%*.........not an AC/DC tribute band..

Well Frank, I'm not as young as some of these new high times models and instragram kidz.  But I think you'll be happy to know, somethings havent gone the way of the Dodo yet.

The nickelbag still exists, but adjusting for the rate of inflation it is now known as "a dimebag".  A great guitar playing texan cowboy from hell carried that mantle unto his death.
BC thunder#$%* has relocated its base of operations to Alaska, and is now sold as AK Thunder#$%*
Acupulco Gold is a great-great-great-great-grandfather who has sired many offspring.
And you can still get a lid for $40.  It's Pre ground surplus bud that sometimes comes with a free pack of rolling papers.

I hope that restores some of your faith in my generation.

Yeah CR isn't the inexpensive paradise it once was. Hookers are still legal, right? :)
