Lordy Lordy. I have never been to that auction. It's only hour and half away. Sad.

I think the 76 super sport on page 4 is my old one. Same drill pattern and rings on the front rotor, that rotor was on the right side, It was on ebay like that after I sold it, same NOS crash bars, same tires, miles correct, same almost correct sidecover color. stock muffler and painted tank added if it is.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Something about those early century "bikes" just makes me smile.

I'll be there too, about 10 minutes from my house. I went last year, and it was for sure a sellers auction.

Dave were a lot of the bikes sold with a bidding reserve ?  That is the reason I enjoy watching the Barrett/Jackson auto auction which is also starting the 17th in Scottsdale as they sell 99% of their vehicles with NO reserve. Somebody is actually buying the stuff !!

I can't make it through the first ten pages, my heart is pounding, and my bp is rising.

If if if if I would get one each of the older inline fours, throw in a couple Harley's and an old beemer, line 'em up in the family room, and then keep them all well exercised.

The day I went, the majority of the bikes had a reserve. There was a large section of bikes that did not make reserve that were still being negotiated between bidder/seller. That being said, even with the reserves, bikes were being sold. I could not believe the prices some of them were going for. People were spending some money for sure.

It is interesting to see, how the increasing interest and demand for vintage and classic motorcycles affects auction offerings. Bikes that 10 years ago, were deemed not to be worth anything and were discarded or sold for couple hundred $$ are now showing up at auction. The large number of Japanese motorcycles is testimony to that. Every year, I find one or two more models of bikes that I own or owned coming to be part of a large auction while years ago, they were being snubbed by the "classic bike experts".
1973 CB350F -sold
1974 CB350F -218 orig miles, sold
1976 CB750K - in restoration

GB500
Plus Kawasakis, BMws & Ducatis

You should bookmark that auction in your favorites Don and see what it goes for. Probably is the same just getting flipped in a different venue.

It brought $6750, pretty good and more than the other 750F's. It was a great stored inside and dry bike. Someone repainted the tank and cowl and put on the seat strap.

I'm glad to see some good prices on Hondas. I'm not sure if there was a sandcast, I hope not because I didn't see sandcast prices on anything. I'm beginning to believe they've gone down somewhat.  The cb500T's went cheap as did the 750A.
I did notice Vincent Rapides selling in the 30's and 40's. That's the only Vincent twin I might ever be able to buy but only if I sold a few decent 750's for good money.

I was shocked that the CA150 Benley Touring 150s went for decent money.  The CT70s were going for BIG money...dang!  $3-4000

Unbelievable

Lot F128 cb750 sandcast $28,000 2 owner, low miles, restored. I'm glad to see that, last year one sold for what seemed cheap. Glad because I have one, sucks if you want one.

You can log on to mecum by entering your email address and look for results you can see all the prices for everything that sold.

It was interesting to watch. Some bikes brought far more than you would expect. Some less. A TZ350 with GP history brought $5K. Triumphs were selling for more than Nortons. It was weird.

I caught some of this last night.  Super cool, but the crowd looked pretty small.
Saw the stock blue '74 and '76 750K go for more than expected, and 78750F go for under $3

Apparently i've got a thing for Ducati GT750s and that little '63 T120 ::)

Did you see the "flake orange" 1976 CB750 K that sold in the mid  $4.000's fLY ?   Not to be a Debbie Downer but wrong color even for orange, fat tank stripe kit was crooked and too high, wings on the side covers were pointed the wrong way, factory sticker on the top of gas tank was on the side of the gas cap in the wrong place and that was just the stuff I noticed on a quick shot off the TV  ::)

Unfortunately no I didnt, but I wouldnd have guessed a repaint would go for that much.  The (almost) planet blue (repaint) 76 750 went for around $4k iirc, too.
I could have watched it for hours, but 3 of my kids had different plans for me last night  ;D
