NOS tune-up kit
« on: January 06, 2017, 07:36:42 PM »
Thought I'd share with you guys some pictures of a NOS tune-up kit I found in the clearance bin of a local tool shop, this thing sat there for so long it has like 5 different price tags, all of them blacked out, also the case is all tattered and yellowed but everything works fine. It's a sanpet SA-900 kit, I've googled it a bit and couldn't find any information on it, I did find some pictures of timing lights by the same brand, but none resemble the one I have.

Mostly I bought out of curiosity but also because of the timing light, the kit includes 5 tools, a timing light, a dwell/rpm meter, a vacuum gauge, a compression meter (this one I liked very much because how compact it is) and a remote starter switch, well enough with the babble, here are the pics:

BTW: it even has an instructions manual on how to use the kit for diagnostics and possible solutions for everything, it's so old that it seems written on a type writer and talks about modern carburated engines.

Ha ha, yeah I suppose you don't see them much any more, they were all over car parts places 20-30 years ago, I've got a couple in my garage I bought "Back in the day", when car electronics were way simpler than they are now. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Just out of curiosity does the box or paper work say where it was made ? Might be pre everything 'Made in China'.

Or, it could have been made in China back in the 70's or 80's when their build quality was terrible Eric, so might not be a good thing.......... ;D

There's no place of origin marked anywhere, so it's still a mystery to me, I've searched some more and could find mostly japanese sites with pictures of other sanpet tools but not the ones I have, I also found a Filipino site where someone is selling another tune-up kit by the same brand and they announce it as a US brand, so who knows!
