Hondaline fairing on CB750?
« on: January 04, 2017, 07:20:32 AM »
The fairing, afaik, is 1982 V45 Sabre in good shape.

How difficult would it be to adapt it to fit CB750?

Anybody done that?

The Hondaline fairings of the early 80s have a model-specific bracket, which is quite elaborate. You can probably modify it to fit the SOHC 750 frame. I would recommend this, because you have the fairing-side attachments ready and only need to work on the frame side.

Post pictures of what you come up with. I plan to adapt one of these for my 550.

Everything can be made to fit anything.
I did put a Rickman touring fairing on my CBR1000F some 15 years ago, makes a big difference in winterriding.

Besides, which, they are beautiful fairings!

True, plus I knew what I was doing, I rode a CB750F1 for years in the 70's and 80's with that type of windprotection. Even racet with it in the nationals, loads of comment and lots of fun.
Nowadays other bikers often mistake my CBR for an old Goldwing, makes for funny moments too ;D

Sorry, my fault entirely :-X
But I have some advise: if you make stays and fastenings yourself make them as short as possible, and as light as possible, aluminium plate or so, and think economical, so you can change lightbulbs etc. without taking the whole fairing off the bike.
