Covid Dogs
« on: December 01, 2020, 04:40:48 PM »
My goofy, 8 year old, 90 lbs., “Labradoodle” has become more attached than ever. He’s always been the best dog we’ve ever had, but over the past eight months, we spend so much time together, he’s become even more inseparable. I think he actually enjoys COVID times! Good thing I’m never going “back to work”.

I've always been told that big dogs have bigger brains than small dogs. And you can really tell the difference.

Max 2.0 is a rescue. He’s always been well looked after, just got too big for the families he started with. Grew up with small kids, and he is a “Gentle Giant”. He’s been here for over 4 years.

Between us and our neighbours, we are fortunate to have 400+ acres, including many miles of wooded walking trails. He gets tons of exercise and is very healthy. Not too sure about a “big brain”,  but he does have a “huge heart”!! He also makes me laugh out loud at least a few times a day.

Our previous dog (14 years) was a small chocolate lab. His name was Max. When my wife heard this guy’s name was already Max, that sealed the deal...... it’s why our g’kids call him “Max 2.0”.

Back when the Covid first hit my 7yo red heeler started sleeping on the bed at my feet. The only time he ever slept on the bed before has been when I was sick. He's by far the smartest dog I have ever had and the best natural watchdog as well. The wife and kids are his herd and he doesn't relax until everyone is home for the evening but he is still on duty. 8)

Our first Dog was a St Bernard, we had hardwood floors and a 4 poster bed frame. One night we awoke to the footboard jumping up and down just like the Exorcist Movie we had just seen. Scared the beejesus out of us. I jumped out of bed and looked, there was the dog. He had rolled under the bed, tried to get up and was stuck. He panicked, we panicked, everyone was awake for an hour after that.
It's about time for dog #5.  13 years, 8 years, 7 years and 7 years. They were all big Dogs.

Don..... same here, our 5th. Last chocolate lab was small, runt of the litter, smart as a they get...

Labradoodles are not really a breed, just a cross. Fantastic disposition, smart, and certainly some strange looks. Check them out!

My mother in law has a Labradoodle and he is half the size of yours at around 40lbs but that dog is fast. He is so fast my heeler doesn't even try to chase him anymore. Riley can turn on a dime but Rex just piles into stuff.

Max is fast too. His best buddy is a Blue Healer (belongs to a friend). I only worry when they tear around, about his hips. He usually looks a bit sore the next day, and he’s getting “older” for a big dog.....

An older brother of mine has about 4 or 5 dogs most of which were abandoned by their owners. He's had at least 2 dogs that were owned by neighboring farmers but chose my brothers place as their home. He's got a big golden retriever that was actually owned by a farmer a few miles down the road but the dog would always end up hanging out at my brothers place. He offered to buy the dog off the farmer but the farmer wasn't willing to sell him, eventually though the farmer got tired of always having to come and get the dog so he finally told my brother that it was obvious the dog liked being at my brothers place more than his so he just gave the dog to him.

If I added all 5 of ours together, they would make 1/2 of a [small] Labradoodle.
We started this batch with 2, the rest just followed my wife home from somewhere, and no one came to claim them.

we picked this guy up after my old coonhound ruckus passed.  our other dog casper was pretty lonely.  it was the right move to keep his spirits up.  ven is an agouti husky.  some kind of husky hybrid.  casper is part husky and the two of them have 6 or 7 wrestling matches a day.  casper has shed some extra lbs he was carrying.

Dinovite may help keep 'em healthy, since even 'premium' pet foods can have 'mixed' animal by-products.   Check "DEAD PETS DON'T LIE".   Even some expensive pet food brands have those ingredients, which can contain formerly euthanized dogs and cats, which are picked from veterinary offices. The phenol barbitol remains in the carcasses when they get ground up into the 'mixed-animal-byproducts.
It's no wonder so many pets are stricken with cancer, and weird nuerological issues prematurely.  Please research your pet food on behalf of your furry best-friends.

Don't have dogs now.... But my 2 cats act like kittens, and are 11-15 years old. They love a small amount daily.

My last dog and my last two cats I'm convinced died of pet food. The Cats both got mouth cancer and the Dog got renal failure after a bad batch of dog food we bought to try to help with allergies.
The Vet wouldn't tell us much when the dog got sick. We bought the food there, I found out later and elsewhere about excessive vitamin D killing dogs. Couldn't prove it, made no sense to try.
Today I thought how sad it is to get home, open the door and not be greeted.
