Snapped cam stud
« on: January 11, 2017, 11:14:01 AM »
Damn these things are easy to snap, and go figure they're out of production!

Anyone know where I can get some? Can I use a generic stud from Fastenal, or some threaded rod?

Bike is a '78 K (part is 90055-300-000)

EDIT: Checked briefly...I can get a threaded rod in class 4.6 or 8.8. 8.8 is like 5x more expensive, but if that's what it takes...

PM member Bill Benton, I am sure he has a decent stud to sell you.

Had my torque wrench at 8 or 9 ft lb. Should really not be a problem for a 6mm bolt. I did reduce the torque for the rest though...Right around 6 now, and that's what I'll use when I get a new stud
