cb360 front wheel bearing seals
« on: January 11, 2017, 01:15:18 PM »
I'm installing a set of allballs bearings in a cb360 front hub and my question has to do with the sealed bearings themselves. The OEM bearings has a seal facing out but no seal on the inside and it seems the hub itself was packed with grease around the outside of the inner spacer allowing the inner side or open side of the bearing access to more grease. The new allballs bearings are sealed on both sides which if left that way means there's no need for any grease in the hub so my question is after cleaning all the old grease out of the hub do I leave it dry and install the new bearings as they are OR should I remove the seal that will be facing the spacer and pack grease around the spacer like it was with the OEM bearings? So far it seems I should just install the spacer with no grease and leave the seals on the new bearings alone but i figure I better ask to make sure. In the pic the old bearing is on top without a seal on the side that would've faced the spacer and the new bearing below it that is sealed on both sides.

On second thought's I'm just cleaning it up and leaving the seals alone. After cleaning out the old grease and taking a better look at the hub the idea of packing it with grease to be any use to the bearings would mean a whole bunch of grease so I'm just putting the spacer back in with no extra grease and leave the seals on the new bearings intact ... which is pretty much what every instruction about it said anyhow. Oh well sorry for the dumb question.
