Front and rear full fenders?
« on: January 28, 2017, 12:05:48 AM »
I'm interested in changing my fenders. I would like to install full fenders front and rear, has anyone done this to their bike and could you post some pictures? Im interested in any modifications you made to original parts if any.

Thanks all.

2 things:
(1) This post doesn't belong in project builds.  You might want to move this thread to SOHC bikes or Other bikes depending on what model bike it pertains to;
(2) What bike are you asking about?  Fenders are not universal.

not sure what you mean by "full" fenders...if you mean stock fenders, they bolt on easily unless you have mods that we may not know about
If it works good, it looks good...

I'm a little confused as well. You say full fenders but then you talk about any modifications that have been made.

I was dead set on running a full front fender on my 76 550. So much so that I had to get a little creative with trying to make it work while running the Motogp exhaust but I finally figured that out. I just like how the bike looks with an uncut front fender. Now the rear was a different story. I wanted to clean things up so I ditched the stock tail light and bracket and went with something smaller and, IMO, more tasteful. Ended up not liking that either and what I kept coming back to was the length of the fender (it extended too far back for my tastes). Since I wanted to keep that factory rolled edge on the end of the fender I bobbed it by cutting off what is normally under the seat and then just rotating the whole thing to the front. I did this several times before I got it to look how I wanted and then I had to deal with mounting it.

Hope this helps you.

Fellas,

What I'm trying to say is that I want to install a front fender on the rear.

I tried deleting this post and it wouldn't let me.

I'm all for following your nose but...why a front fender on the rear? I'm worried that, proportionally, it's going to look odd. Narrow. Again...not knocking or questioning your vision. Just asking.

Are you talking about mounting the fender to swing arm so the entire fender is close to tire and moves with rear suspension?

 I did something like that on a CB550, using a Ducati M900 front fender.

Thanks man!  I'll be looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
If you liked that 550 build, you may dig this latest one I did with a 750:
