What is that makes you say that its not working?  From memory when I did mine there were a few spokes sticking out like that until I got most of the inner and outer spokes in. Especially considering that in your latest photo you have all the spokes in one direction, the hub wont centre it self until it has enough pull from the spokes in all directions.

you got something backward like the hoop. did you try flipping it -the hoop? OR you need to go to the next hole that lines up - more angle. Are you sure you bought the correct spokes?
It shouldn't be that hard it. It kinda puts itself together.

pic's from today, with a set from a couple years ago. I'll even throw in a BMW X Lace from my gs adv. lol

Flipping won't matter, I've reversed them, no difference. Skipping to another hole will matter. The tutotial above is a good one. I used the 16" rim directions from hondachopper.com too.
I do innies on one side, turn it to draw in the nipples. Flip it over, do the innies from the other side, the opposite direction. Watch to see where the rim holes are aimed and look for the wear marks on the hub. If you weren't half a world away, I'd say bring em over.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Something is wrong, I have sent replies twice and nothing happens. So without photos this time.

Yes I have checked that I have the correct spokes, purchased the rim and spokes from David Silver.

Have now completed the lacing, all spokes in, I just hope it tightens up correctly,

Will advise final result.

You may of ordered the right spokes but have checjed you got the right ones. Check them with a tape measure to make sure they are what they are supposed to be.

The nipples don't seem to be sitting the rims correctly,  that may be a rim to suit a rear drum brake?

Timbo, good points.  Yes it is the correct rim, but how do Iknow what length the spokes are meant to be.  Both inners and outers are the same length which I guess is a good start.

I keep coming back to see if you got It sorted. I agree that the spoke don't look like there at the correct angle in the hoop. Another place for info is www.woodyswheelworks.com

Timbo,
Thanks for the measurement, fortunately or unfortunately depending on your point of view my spokes are the same size.  20 cm. Damn had sort of hoped they would be too long.
Am going to take the wheel to a spoke shop in the next day or so and will advise out come
Disco I have heard of the Spoke Shop , they have a good name.  I know a bloke who lives closer to me so will give him a try.

Ha ha, and there's your problem mate, you're using spokes meant for a 19 inch rim, in an 18 inch rim! No wonder they're a tad long.......... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Terry you always seem to have the answer. Did you also look at the angle of the nipple on the rim compared to the spoke, I still suspect a rear rim.

Thanks Tim, if you look closely you'll see that it's an odd 18 x 1.85 rim, so I suppose it could be a rear, but definitely not for a CB750. Cheers, Terry. ;D

You cant run a die over them , you wil, get a 1/2 thread..they must be rolled if you want more thread..
I was just going to mention, that if he has not yet sorted this..must be a wrong rim..

F***. The rim I got from David Silver with spokes to match. By the way it is for a CB 500 K1.   I questioned David Silver but they guaranteed the spokes were correct.  It is a long way to return spokes. Ah well will send them a email and see what happens.
In hind sight should have checked the basics first before wasting my bloody time

Yeah mate, it's not the spokes that are incorrect, it's the rim. You've got an 18 inch rim there, when you need a 19 inch rim for your bike. ;D
