Pretty brutal here, lows around 60, highs near 80. Summertime is my winter. From June through Sept it's either smokin' hot or raining sideways. May try to ride to work one day this week...

I'm in the same boat in the socal desert, 60's-70's for highs with chilly mornings.  We have a few cold snaps of below freezing nights, but not to often.  Summers are BRUTALLY HOT here 105+ for 3 months or so but you can ride comfortably in the early mornings and late evenings or get away to the mountains for the day, I ride mostly year round.

That sounds like ideal riding conditions to me  :)

Somewhere around 96* or so it actually gets hotter with wind and its just not comfortable riding with a blow dryer on you.

You probably need to ride w/ a water soaked CoolMax garment? in the Summer.. sounds good for the Winter though.

A friend of mine moved to Scottsdale Az years ago and took his 650 Yammie twin with him and was excited about riding year around till he went through his first really hot summer. He commented it was pretty brutal.  I don't really miss it that much here in winter Michigan, just gives me something to look forward to in the spring. Motorcycles and mushrooms--yummy

You folks in the warmer climates think your remarks are witty, but it really just makes you sound like a bunch pansies.

Steve-o, I think thats great  so why not go ahead and enjoy riding all year long and save the "bunch pansies" remarks for another day...thanks.

Jus' sayin'.

Summer in PHX isn't so bad, mountains aren't too far away, I ride my bicycle a half mile to work, and I get out in the evenings. Zipping around town a little in 110 is doable, but I wouldn't want to commute -- although if I had to I'm sure I would. There are plenty of people here who don't ride in the summer and don't ride that much when the winter is too cold for them (30s at night, 40s during the day on cold days). I grew up and rode year round in Seattle, which is cold and wet, so I just appreciate it being dry here. And then there's Bob's...

The only thing about Menifee is the extremes -- bone-chilling COLD during the dead of winter, and oven-hot during the late summer.

A hearty Canadian in the CX/GL forum has a sidecar equipped bike he uses year round.  Since the bike is water cooled he moved the radiator to the side an faired in the lowers for a GL bike to deflect a lot of wind and the radiator gives him and the passenger if there is one enough heat to deal with it better.  He rides it even if there is snow and ice and has modified it to have enough clearance for the bike to run chains if conditions go really tits up.  I think he has a set of wheels equipped with screws though the tires creating studded ice tires but those rarely are used anymore.

Ice racing with screw loaded tires is some pretty intense stuff...usually done on frozen lakes.  YouTube it if you like...

So, maybe pick up a GL500 get it running well and outfit it with a side car and some extra sielding from the wind.  They are relatively inenexpensive if you are bying a fair condition bike for use as a winter beater.  Side car might setyou back a little money...just have to think outside the box and adapt one not necessarily  designed for your bike to your bike.

Sidecars a totally different kind of experience.

I looked into a bolt in, reversible, trike kit when I lived in the mountains.  It was to expensive for me at the time but I rode my Electra Glide in the teens if the roads were decent.

Do some wrenching, Rafi :)
............

For the last three winters, wrenching sure was the highlight. I don't have another project on hand, and the K3 is awaiting final assembly, all the individual bits are done. Perhaps I need to make time to show my car some love. The old gal has been loyal since I bought it used in college and is now pushing 235K. The suspension is damn near shot and the salt rot from underneath grows every year.

That's actually the name of my "motorcycle club" -- the Bunch Pansies.

I would sh!t my pants if I ever saw some news headlines like; "FBI raids Bunch Pansies motorcycle clubhouse" or "ATF crackdown on Bunch Pansies illegal weapons trafe", maybe "Bunch Pansies motorcycle gang fight ends in tragedy."  Maybe "Police suspect Bunch Pansies motorcycle club involved in trump's election hacking"

Edward,  you should just pick up a good used condition car with good paint and body... drive this one once a month to keep it running and only use the old car in the winter...
A newer car will be safer, usually true, and can get better fuel economy with similar or better performance. Pick up something that has a history of good engineering without a lot of blackeyes  for that model developing trouble as they age. If you buy one that went through a restyling recently often it drives down the used car price some on the older body style.

Then it is a matter of working with your insurance agent to take theinsurance off theroad during the seasons where you drive the winter beater.  Keeping the newer car out of the salt, sand, cinders and other winter corrosion. Don't park either car on a grass, otherwise the moisture from the ground just gets sucked up under the car creating a great rust breeding ground.

We sometimes get confused for our rival "motorcycle club" -- OK, really, we're gangs -- as they are called the "Bunched Panties." As you can imagine, they're pretty testy about stuff and don't take #$%* lightly, seems like the smallest slight can set them off.

I've been sneaking out when dry and above 40°.
When it's cold and/or wet, I just point the pipes out the garage door and run it for about 15min (Yes, I sit on it)

You are surely not alone having riding withdrawal.
I stopped riding when I had kids...20 years watching everyone else ride... that sucked. Then when I could ride , upstate NY isn't the place to do it unless you're on an enduro when you get the urge.
One year I just rode around in my storage area...not that interesting and just doesn't scratch the itch.
Another year I put tracks and ski's on a 550.... that was better , but I froze my ass off.
I tried a snowmobile a winter ago or so, nothing like a ride on a cycle.
I stayed busy building bikes in the shop for a few winters, that was better, but there is just no substitute for a ride.
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.
550 Snowbike -Somebody had to do it.

I usually have a bike to do major work on.  Take it all apart and spread the pieces around the shop to keep my spirits up.  But this year, all the bikes are packed away to make room for a vintage motorhome refit.  Actually I'm getting reacquainted with my sewing machine doing upholstery.  Dreaming of sewing a seat cover for a cafe seat!  But I couldn't take it any longer, I spent several hours digging a motor out of the corner of the shop to get my "fix".  Tomorrow I get some oil to fill it and do a compression test.  I couldn't stay away!   It's a long way till riding weather in Buffalo.

No you are not alone.

Today was a keen reminder of why I would rather be on the bike.

2 1/2 hour commute, 35 miles.  On the bike it would have been 45 minutes
