Thank you, the POR15 has a nice "cast" look to it. It seems to be curing out into a very durable surface. I'm going to give it a few days before assembling the cases.

Got it,thank you for the information. I'll need to think of something to contribute.

Getting ready to assemble cases. Letting the paint cure up some. Set up the fastener map, crude but serves the purpose. I'll be checking O rings and dowels next.

I used to live in Key Largo in the late 90's. We were always worried about the big one, which they just got, while there we rode out a few Category 1 and 2 storms. We did ok but I always thought it could get very bad if luck ran out. The folks down there have a tough road ahead, just like Budman.

What's everyone using for wheel weights?
I'm not to crazy about flat stick on ones, they don't seem to secure. I guess I'll get some old lead ones?

Also, the 4 into 2 exhaust is up for grabs, not sure what shipping would've from here. It's in pretty good shape.

My gasket set did not include the o ring for the oil passage, argggh. I ordered some from Grainger. Waiting.........

Bonehead question, I failed to take note when I disassembled the oil tank lines.
When assembling the lines to the tank, there is a rubber washer and an aluminum washer.
Am I correct in assuming the rubber goes against the tank flange and the aluminum is on the oil line side?

Hey Steve....I just installed new lines on my K4 last month, I dont recall a rubber washer?
Have you looked at the fiche?

Good question. I've been looking at the parts pictures on line and the printed one I have. They seem to omit any mention of the tank end of the hoses. Yamiya sells a "set" that includes the aluminum and rubber washers. I purchased it. I just sent them an inquiry about it, we'll see what they say, they've been good about things like that.
I've been spending time putting together "sub assemblies" so that when the time comes there will be smooth sailing getting the bike together. Amazing what you find, there is always something that needs to be worked on or purchased.
I just learned that Hagon shocks no longer has their US office in California. Everything is out of the U.K. Now.

Oil Tank oil lines
Yamiya confirms that their oil line kit assembles rubber washer goes against the tank and the aluminum washer is against the oil line. I'm going to search through my parts to see if I took a rubber washer out, I don't recall.

Got the cylinders back today, inscribed the cylinder number on each piston so they don't get mixed up. I hand-finished the pistons, will get it boxed up tomorrow for the return trip. The head is still in the shop: he broke his .260" valve guide rod in his valve machine last week and the new one isn't here yet. :(

I sure don't recall any O-rings in the oil lines at the tank(?). There is a soft aluminum washer there. I'd suggest leaving the nut loose on the line at the bottom of the tank, so you can more easily align it when the hoses are in place with the engine.

I just sent the cylinders, will PM with details.

I checked my rocker shafts, they have about 0.0004" wear, out of round. The oil holes line up well with the 5mm bolts installed. Should I seek new ones? If I did find new ones I might leave out the 5 mm bolts.

I'd just flip the rocker shafts over, if worn a little on their bottom sides. That much wear isn't very significant, so long as the oil grooves show in the rocker's oiling holes.

I'm planning on re-using the springs, at this point. Very little wear or collapse in any of them. If you'd like extra performance from them, I could have them sand- or bead-blasted for you? This extends their life somewhat, mostly. It doesn't alter how they work.

In fact, this might be a good time for an old 'theory moment: in one of my favorite history books, "Ford: the first 100 years", there was a pointer to a story I researched and found to be very cool, regarding valve springs. In the beginning of the internal combustion engine, the #1 problem was the life of valve springs: they were measured in less than 100 hour increments. Henry Ford decided he wanted to solve this industry-wide problem and put one of his oldest and practiced machinists on it, all day every day, testing different springs and revising them. Then, one summer, a particular spring ran longer by 10-fold than any other spring, and Henry, who checked this project every 2 weeks himself, had the machinist trace the spring's history to find out what was so different about it. The machinist had kept complete records, and discovered that when it went to testing, it was a little rusty from sitting and waiting its turn, so he sandblasted it clean first. Within 3 weeks after that, they developed the technology now known as 'impact destressing', or today, "bead blasting", as it relieves all the surface stress lines in steels and other materials. All such springs are heated, wound, ends machined flat, and bead-blasted with tiny steel beads to make them last thousands and thousand of hours....because someone took a minute to 'fix up' something that wasn't quite right...

See? That's why we do these projects, not because they are vanity projects or nostalgic macho excursions or ways to spend too much money on an old motorcycle, but because it's so educational!!
Actually, even though I spent many hours and miles on my K0 back in the day, I've learned more than I ever thought I would on this project. I'm used to pretty complicated stuff (nuclear submarine propulsion is an example), I'm impressed with how elegantly simple and robust the details are of the 750. It's a joy to work on. I'll be happy to get it on the road and be able to ride it and pick up my wood work again but I'm having a lot of fun with it all apart in the work shop. I'm fortunate to have a large garage to do the job in.
If I do another one I think I would look for a 400F
O rings came in but not the ones I need right now. I got the o rings for the engine side of the oil lines, if anyone needs a pair I have 50. Minimum order from Grainger. There aren't any good sources of o rings here on Maui. Still waiting for the oil gallery o rings, I'll have 50 of those too.
