Swing arm bushings

I removed the bushings on my swing arm using the hacksaw method. It was much easier than I thought it would be. I used a new blade and made about ten strokes which went through about one eighth of  the bushing. I didn't want to accidentally cut at an angle and then cut into the frame. Then I removed the hacksaw blade and used a piece of black gas pipe that was in the garage, tapped it lightly and it came right out. I was surprised how easy it was. I'm looking for some advice on new replacement bushings. Both the front and rear shock ones for my CB750. I don't think the installation process will be as easy.

It's probably easier! I used some bronze bushings and pressed them in with a pipe clamp I think. I polished the pivot shaft or whatever it's called and fitted a American style grease zerk in the end while I had it out. Simple conversion. After that it's install time. You don't need all the spacers that originally were used with the old style bushings. I believe the new ones are a top hat shape and you only need to add the cupped cap between the bushings and frame.

Put it all back together and pump grease till it's oozing out both ends. Check for side to side play - should be zero measurable play. None at all. Make sure the swing arm can slowly fall down under its own weight before you hook up the rear shocks. Then you know it's not binding.

There is guy in europe who makes brass swing arm bushings. Best value and recommended by many, I got mine from him and a perfect fit and easy to fit, just need a soft blow hammer and a piece of wood.

Now I remember, I used a long piece of threaded rod with a big washer and nut on each end. As I tightened the nuts the bushings were pressed in. Dead blow works too but much easier to muck something up...

Careful of the aftermarket carb boots. I had a pair split nearly in half after 2-3 years. I just got a set of Honda replacements in the mail this month actually. These might be one of those pieces that really should be oem

Those bushings look like they will work but they are different than what came out of the swing arm which was one piece that ran the width of the swing arm. Are there different types of these bushings? Mine is a '69 and he states his fit 70-78.

It sounds like you are describing the inner collar. The inner collar extends from side to side, the bushings are only about an inch and a half long.

Can you show us a picture?
