First post, new member. I read the "tires" FAQs, found and read a dozen or more posts about tires, but am still interested in some recommendations of new tires to put on my '78 750K for everyday use. I have other motorcycles for track days and hardcore twisties, this bike (which I just acquired) is for two up riding and longer distance "get out and see the country" trips. Ive seen the Dunlop 404s recommended, Spitfires, Metzlers, Contis, Battleaxes, Avons, GT501s, Pirelli MT66 - hell, everything seems to get a recommendation
, but some people recommend specific widths while others recommend against those same specific widths, ratios, etc. As you guys (and gals) undoubtedly already know, stock tires were 3.50x19 on the front and 4.5 x17 on the rear, tubed bias ply. Not a lot of those choices still available. Can't find a matched set of ANYTHING at motorcycle superstore, Bike Bandits, any of the usual suspects, even if I acknowledge that I'm really looking these days for a 100/90 x 19 front and a 120/90 x 17 (or it seems most people think a 130/90 or even a 130/80 x 17) rear, that takes tubes. So for those of you that ride a '78 often, in all weather, but only moderately "hard", and retained the stock laced 19" front and 17" rear, what have you had good success with? I admit I like the look of the white letter Bridgestone Spitfires quite a lot, but again I cant seem to find both a front AND a rear in an applicable size. Anybody in love with the tires they've put on their '78K?
