Here's a Bee-ootiful Italian masterpiece of a seat for a 400F for only $120 AUD, who wants it? ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Ted, get off your butt and start making your repro's again, they are way better than the originals! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Thanks for the plug, Terry. I still do have a very limited supply left of perfect replacement covers and seat foams for the '69-'76 CB750 Giuliari for anyone who has an original pan and wants to restore it to like new. Thomas may still be making the seats in Germany if anyone wants to email him at Classic Cycle City. And I may start again one of these days, if I ever get caught up on other projects. I still think they're a great product but they are more expensive to make than the foreign junk a lot of the guys bought. RR

I bumped into an auto upholstery and I asked if they could make a cafe seat with a hump for me.

If I want my seat to look exactly like this original one, would it be safe to buy an original cb350f seat and have them work off of that or is there a better way to recreate that.

I have perfect reproduction foams and covers for the Giuliari, but unfortunately they are for the CB750 single-place seat and will not fit your two-place seat pan. I can't make any other recommendations. Sorry. RR

It's alright thank you anyway for the consideration, I was just wondering if the original cb350f seat would be a good base for the upholstery to work with.

They look great Ted, so the foams and covers will fit a stock CB750 seat base? Cheers, Terry. ;D

No, unfortunately not. We make a custom fiberglass base that was patterned to the dimensions of the original Giuliari including the hump.  Totally different from the stock seat pan.  RR

No worries mate, but I wonder if there's a market for a "Faux Giuliari" foam and cover that will go straight on to a CB750 seat base? Hmmnnn......... ;D

If one wanted to exactly reproduce the Giuliari, it would be impossible to use the original Honda pan: different dimensions entirely. You could make a cafe seat from the pan by welding a hump to the rear and then upholstering it, but it would be a far cry from the aesthetic of an original Giuliari.

Our covers and foam are frequently used in Europe to restore original single-place Giuliari seats for the CB750K. In fact, I have two original pans that I'll be doing later, but they will not be sold...

Yep, understood Ted, I'm just wondering if you could make something that looked like a Giuliari (obviously not an exact match) to create a broader market than just those lucky enough to have an original Giuliari pan? Lots of folks here have buggared CB750 seats, so there are plenty of bases around for the Cafe Racer set to play with. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Terry, we were making the entire seat including the pans; all the fittings and hinges are stainless. The company who was making the fiberglass pans is currently in a reorganization and unavailable to produce with our molds.

If there is sufficient interest, we'd probably start production again. But, frankly, it's hard to sell a fine $350 seat in a market that has chosen to use $99 imports. If people can't tell the difference, I'm not the one to educate them. It took over a year, $$$, and multiple iterations to reproduce the Giuliari to the millimeter. Even the foam is modeled from the original but is a modern, superior material. RR

Yeah, I know what you're saying mate, the modern Cafe Racer is just a hack job compared to what we were riding back in the day, those 99 buck "Cafe Racer Seats" are rubbish compared to your stuff, but modern Cafe Racer's taste is in their arse, they hack up a good old bike, screw on a pile of crap from China, are disappointed with the result, but still expect to sell them for big bux.

I'm currently restoring my 1969 K0, and need some cash to buy an exhaust so I put some items on Ebay last Saturday and so far, no bids. I didn't think anything was over-priced, I paid more for this stuff than what I listed it for, but apart from a heap of watchers, nada. Oh well, it can sit in my garage for a few more years.......... Cheers, Terry. ;D

I hear ya, Terry. Ebay is bizarre lately. I've put out really rare and desirable stuff, gotten like 1200 views, 200 watchers, and 0 bids. Very strange out there. These people have to learn that you get very few chances to acquire these rare specialty parts, and if they get the opportunity they'd better move on it!  ???

George is right - it is a Giuliari seat pan and foam. The seat has been recovered at some point in time - probably with a cover for a CB750 Giuliari. That is why the embossed seat pattern doesn't end prior to the hump. We still manufacture millimeter-perfect Giuliari covers and foams (for the 750K) and could (if I wasn't such a lazy lump) start making complete repro seats again.

RR

- Did you produce single seat or long enough for a passenger too?    Many of the seats look tight for 2.

I regret that I did not buy a seat back in early 80's when many sellers here had them in stock for not that much either

yeah I really want to buy this but to repair it and such is a hassle.

sigh.. Never will find the right seat for my bike I guess
Why not just make the seat you are after?   Sounds like a simple pan to do and then have a upholstery place do the foam and cover

Hmmm, I wonder how hard it would be to have the stock Giuliari pan scanned and then replicated on a 3D printer?

As I am coming to find out it is very hard to find a cb350f one..

Still searching though!

Well, you could do that, Danny. But it would be expensive and a duplication of effort. I already have the molds for exactly the same thing...

Okay, let's put this to rest: If anyone wants one of the Giuliari repro seats and is willing to pay half of the price up front as a deposit, I'm go back into production. Note: I only make the seats that will fit the 1972-1976 stock CB750K chassis. They can fit the 69-71 if you bolt on a later seat lock receiver. These are a perfect bolt-on replacement for the original Honda seat.

I need at least three paid orders to bother (they're expensive to make and way too much work!) but under those circumstances, I'll resurrect the program. Just let me know. Figure on completion taking about three weeks or less if I can do that. Lemme know.

The Giuliari CB550 seat base (and foam and upholstery) has to be slightly wider than the 750. And, of course, the hinge is completely different... Otherwise, the seats are similar.
