I would love to start looking at some Kawis.

Now your talkin!   But be forewarned, some Kawis are not cheap even in very poor cond [specifically Z1's and H's]
And the 2 stroke motors can be pricey to rebuild, if done properly.

This H1 is a fun one to ride...

While this forum is SOHC/4, where there not other makes of SOHC/4 besides Honda...just no one talks of them in the main forums...
Granted, at that time there were a bunch of 2-stroke bikes...there were some 4s that were SOHC.

In the not too distant past Suzuki was very innovative or cutting edge with their bikes from a technology and performance point of view.  That has shifted to other makes now.  It is hard to stay on top of the hill...everyone looking to knock you off.
The Scrambler bikes have caught the attention on modern bike buyers.  The disposable income of many would might start getting into bikes is also higher than it was for many years... They grew up seeing different kinds of bikes... So, what speaks to them or excites them on 2 wheels is very different.

I have nothing against some of the Honda DOHC motors, just that period of Custom frame does not appeal to me...don't like that riding style. That's my issue.
I have no interest in crotch rockets either and much of the population also have lost interest in them. After the bubble burst and Custom Harley type bike builders crashed and burned the market moved to other kinds of bikes...customization turned more to Cafe, Brat, and Tracker...and now Scrambler.  What is next? Trikes? Or, will it be something not seen before?  Electric bikes will become better as battery/power source technology makes the next leap and many will move towards that power source.

It was posted 27 days ago so these bikes can't be in that high of a demand.  I would be buying it if I didn't think my wife and family would divorce and disown me.

Me personally, its the effort in bringing them back from the dead that I enjoy and this bike in Monroe is in too good of a condition for my tastes.   But for somebody who wants an immediate, turn key ride that needs no wrenching, this would be a good choice.

Bet you a dollar its a scam add. Area code for the add is Washington State. That's one tip off. Seen other spoof adds around like it. Remember if its too good to be true be wary  ;)

I had no idea to look at the area code and I have not called or spoken to the guy.  Caveat emptor!!  I need to relearn those lessons periodically.

Seems a little presumptuous to assume it's a scam just because the area code is 360.

People keep their cell numbers when they move.

That doesn't mean it isn't one - just that the contact number doesn't mean much anymore.

Call it and see if its real. I have seen some other scam adds with West Coast area phone numbers for some reason. I know if it was for sale around Michigan for $1500.00 it would not be around for 27 days, probably more like just a couple.

I won't question your experience, but I would hate to see an actual person not be able to sell a bike just because they used to live somewhere else and their phone is out of state.

I don't see Craigslist or Ebay do anything about scammers - not without some seriously draconian measures applied to everyone.

But to your point - yeah, seems unrealistic that a bike would be available for dang near a month at that price.

I do agree with you that area codes aren't what they used to be. A friend of mine had a California area code on a mobile for quite awhile here until he was finally transferred there by the company. Numbers  follow people around.

Just call the number, tell them you have a friend nearby to look at it..
When they give you the excuses for why this can never happen no matter what you say..then you know its a scam..

Everybody wants alot.  I used to get bikes for $200 and now a pile of trash is $1,000+  I thought about running ads to connect with people who have them in their garage.  Heard others get results doing that.  Maybe advertise in the local newspaper.  The only people that  read that are seniors anyhow.

I have tried wanted adds on CL a couple times but they usually get flagged pretty quick sometimes by other pickers and hunters. There is an aggressive picker here in Michigan who runs adds a lot and usually if a sweet deal comes up I look on E-bay later to see how much he sold it for  :)   ;)
Mistermonkeyclaw has print adds in all the local 'shopper' papers and the regular newspaper around here. He also does scrap metal, appliances, car parts and more. See recently he had over 180,000 items listed just in the motorcycle column. Found that out when my neighbor sued him for some Sandcast parts that 'accidentally'  got into his trailer when he was buying a load off him.

That is wild Erik.  I hate that Ebay allows one seller to dominate by having 180k listings.  There has to be a better way.  I wish they would break the listings down by seller or have filters to skip sellers like the claw.

not sure if the Mann is joking here or not, but hell, it's a great idea.  This is what me and Ekpent basically do.  Great way to meet more old bike folks and get stuff before it's even on clist

In Phoenix there is a standing or repeating ad on CL wanting old CB bikes... So, you had to be very fast to get anything they might want. Same is true for even Honda Passports and CTs and the like. Now the CT70s are going for $$$ when restored then they are hotly fought over when one comes up cheap.
Mecum auction in January in Las Vegas had some CT70s going for $3000-4000.
For a 70cc Honda Trail! The CT90s do not enjoy anywhere near a good price. The 90cc motor I would think would be preferred.  The S90 motors and CL90 motors were higher horsepower and higher compression motors with different cams and probably the head as well.
