1974 CB750 Exhaust Recommendations
« on: December 11, 2006, 09:13:54 AM »
I am new to bikes and have a 1974 CB750 that is in overall good shape.  I am doing a light cosmetic resto on it to make it look good again - not shooting for perfection, but do want it o look clean and reasonably stock.

Like a lot of these bikes, it came with aftermarket pipes that are pitted and a bit rusty, and frankly are a bit too loud for my tastes. I would really like new stock ones, but as we know they cost an arm and a leg.  Looking at the aftermarket ones available, I prefer the 4 into 2 look, but really don't have a feel for what ones are good or not.  I have made a few calls to firms that sell them, and generally get somebody that when it boils down to it really doesn't know the product.

I would appreciate any recommendations and insights anybody has on this.  I did a search on the forum here but didn't find what I was looking for.

Thanks in advance!

I have a set of Mac 4-2 (turnouts) pipes for my CB750K4 and lucky enough to have a set of 4-4 pipes (stock) for my other K4 and K2 :-). I like the throaty sound of the Mac pipes and how they look. Easy install. I got mine for $300 from Performance Sports I think.

Good luck,
Andy

Just dropped these on this weekend.

They are MAC. 219 from DennisKirk.

Overall fairly happy. Not a perfect finish. Not the highest quality components. Didn't fit very well ( I cut off 4 inches of header to get it to look like I wanted it)

On the other hand, it was 219.00. I am not building a show bike. Just something to terrorize little kids and drown out those morons with the loud bass in their cars.

I got a general MAC 4 into 1 on my CB750..

Plans still call for alittle cutting/welding to get it to look/fit alittle better than it does.
For the $$$ , you cant go wrong...

keep an eye out for a 77-78 super sport set-up, ground clearance isn't lost. You will need the collars, spacers and studs to fit it to the bike.
Good luck.
