gauge question - early style
« on: February 07, 2017, 02:30:59 PM »
Been sitting on a set of early K0 gauges.  Came off  my 1970 CB750.   I have new plastic faces, jewels, and covers (from Lecram) as well as the chrome backs.   The wiring has new protective sleeving and new bullet connectors.   So, they look brand new.  I also have the original covers which are not  in too bad of shape.  The gauges have new rubber rings - that hold them in the triple as well.   I replaced the bulbs while I was at it.    I didn't go further than that as I didn't really want to tear them completely down - some of the parts look like they are not meant to come apart.

Anyway, the tach works, but is a bit jumpy.   The speedometer, however, does not work!   I have since discovered that the plastic/nylon worm gear that drives the needle appears to be stripped.

I have determined that I will probably go ahead and get rid of them to put towards other projects.

What kind of price could I expect to get?   I know I should have them working tip-top, but I just really don't want to dig into them.  There is also a unicorn triple and the chrome rings that would come with it.  The unicorn has been powdercoated (a little thick) and is closer to gloss than satin finish.

Any ideas as to what to ask for them?

Hey GJ..the triple alone is worth about $125 [gloss paint might deduct] and I've seen pricing all over the place on the gauges. Obviously it hurts that they are not functioning properly, but $300 for all may be a fair price, ebay might bring more?

They are worth what someone will pay...

I believe they are the diecast head. The bike is in the 40000 range

Green...can you post up some pics of the stuff. Depending condition and price I may use what I can on my K1 project which is next in line.
